There's a book out called AN ATHEIST IN THE FOXHOLE. It was written by a guy who worked 8 years for Fox News. His last year or two was with O'Reilly, and he made the point that in order to garner audience attention, the victim of any crime had to fit a certain profile.

In the formula, a white, blonde woman was always the best victim. (For Fox News, that is.)

The media sensation in Paris is heightened because its a terrorist attack in the WEST and because the media itself was targeted. Another thing that galls the WEST is terrorists attacking journalists. This is now quite common in violent, strife ridden Islamic countries. There is little Free Press as we know it in the Middle East -- and journalists are at risk of death and imprisonment if they tell certain stories.

So,tThis last attack, without a doubt, was an attack on free speech, and that transcends the loss of the individual lives lost. That is a challenge to our core beliefs and way of life.

I might also add that the West was quite horrified by the Taliban attack on the Pakistani school. No one looked the other way on that. The West was also horrified by Malaya being shot for trying to go to school.

Just because they are moderate Muslims does not make them necessarily right tweak.

So why did everyone else cover the terrorist attack.

The points you make are valid ones, and on the whole I agree with them. However, they apply only to this particular terrorist incident in Paris.

Your post fails to negate my student's more general point that Muslim lives are undervalued compared to Western lives. And it makes no response to the question of whether Muslims might react more favourably to Western demands if perceptions of differing valuations of life were rendered invalid.

You have no point, your premise is stupid. Man bites dog is newsworthy, not vise-verse. Muslims are always massacring each other, but when their bloodshed spills out of Islamic lands into the West people here notice and it naturally becomes more newsworthy

Turn your spurious bullshit around, why dont Muslims care when Jews are massacred, when Christians Hindus and Sikhs are massacred by Muslims... Because it is common, and it is a basic tenant of Islam that non-believers are subhumans who must either convert or be destroyed anyway

Just dog bites man

Nice to see that your reading of the Koran dovetails exactly with the "evil doers".
Terrorists cherry pick the Koran in order to reach that same conclusion that you have reached.

Theyre not cherries, cherries are a desirable fruit

What you are trying to describe is a teaching at the core of the Islamic ideology that inspires oppression and murder around the planet on a daily basis

So in other words once again you are not going to back up the bullshit that flows so freely from your keyboard. What a shock.

No you fuckwit, all I am not doing is a google search on your behalf.

Although I may be tempted to if you keep trolling.

Since I am in a generous mood though, search the younger brothers name and "school"

I did at the time asshole and it said the kid surrendered and they thought he had a past record. That's why I asked in the first place you twatwaffle. So like bama said it was reported that the 18 year old had surrendered and it was thought that he had a record. Now you haven't come up with what exactly you found wrong with that so I can only assume you are talking out of your ass once again. What a shock.

If you read such a report you would easily be able to show me the link. Since you cant I will take it you are still making shit up.

You obviously didnt take up my suggesting of googling the kids name and the word school or you would know whats wrong.

Safeandclean -> RE: 12 dead in Paris (1/11/2015 12:16:58 PM)

I find it disturbing that we in the west are taught that Islam is a "peaceful religion". When from it's founding it has been no such thing. You either converted or you were killed. The ignorant will usually argue "well what about the Crusades?". If you know your history and anything about the Crusades you will know that they (the Crusades) were started because Christians trying to visit the Holy land were being attacked and murdered by Muslims, so the Knights Templar was started to protect them. As far as "cherry picking" parts of the Koran that just proves your lack of knowledge of the Koran. Muslims have declared war on the world. Look at France, Russia, China, the Philippines, England. Muslims are spreading their message of hate all over the world. The sad part is that we in the US have been brain washed to believe that Islam is a peaceful religion. How much more proof does one need before they see Islam for what it is? This isn't even taking into account their oppression of women. No women in the West should ever defend Islam. If they do then take away her drivers licenses, her ability to go to school, she can only leave the house with a male family member, her right to vote and she can be beat with a switch as long as it is no bigger than you pinky. I hope the ignorant people open their eyes and see what is really going on in the world. I also hope that the ignorant research their opinions instead of regurgitating what our liberal schools have brain washed them to say. I have said my peace and will not respond anymore. Political discussion do not belong in here in my opinion. I am here to have fun and get away from issues like this. Good luck to all and have fun...

How dare cartoonists practice free speech

Someone could take offense

slvemike4u -> RE: 12 dead in Paris (1/11/2015 3:02:01 PM)

Someone usually does.that's actually the point of these cartoons.
It's the reaction to the offence that is the issue [8|]

Sanity -> RE: 12 dead in Paris (1/11/2015 3:06:13 PM)

The fascist Islamic ideology is the issue

slvemike4u -> RE: 12 dead in Paris (1/11/2015 3:27:01 PM)

You mean religious fanaticism ,no?
Or are you referring to literal readings of ancient texts ?
Something you have in common with the fanatics [8|]

In your demented little worlds of make-believe you mindless little leftist freaks certainly like to pretend that Christians and others are fascists just as Islamists are, but a quick glance at daily headlines the world over betrays the fact that there is no real comparison

Yet you dont....bravo.

You and the post you refer too both have it wrong about the Crusades, they took place before the formation of the Knights Templar. After the first crusade there was a flood of pilgrims to see the Holy Lands, these were often killed and robbed by bandits, so the Templars were set up to protect them.

So if you wish to stay on topic, do what most of you on the American right fail to do, and get your facts right. I know its a bit of an ask but one can but try.

Is their an extremely "stupid epidemic" where you live. If so you seem to have caught it.

The post Stef replied to, was the one you replied to, which I then replied to.

That post incorrectly mentioned why the Crusades took place, which oddly enough, is the reason I posted.

But I agree, voting Conservative makes me a leftie. Just like most things you dont have a fucking clue what you are on about..
