As somebody who is an ultra-moderate, right wing, revolutionary pacifist, and from the 'news' that in fact do watch including Fox and all of the others...Fox raises the needle the least. You know like...where's the beef ?

As for fair and balanced ? The talk may go back and forth but the subject at hand...hardly. Spending 100's of hours a week on non-issues just to continually denigrate...well.

Hillwilliam -> RE: It is no wonder the American right are so misinformed. (1/12/2015 3:19:35 PM)

Meh, same old same old.

FOX has discovered that it is a statistical certainty that half the American public is of below average intelligence.

If you cater to them and feed their fears, you're golden as far as ratings go.

One hot summer's day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. "Just the thing to quench my thirst," quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure they are sour."

It is easy to despise what you cannot get.

Why the hell are you surprised.

Emerson is a dick, he was wrong, but I did LOVE some of the tweets in response to how muslim the UK is, or "isnt".And lets not forget Emerson is the same guy who in the aftermath of the Oklahoma bombing said it carried all the trademarks of "a Middle Eastern trait".
Hell even Cameron*dickhead* called him a complete idiot
But #FoxNewsFacts on twitter had some lovely responses to his ....statement

This cannot have been an enjoyable weekend for anyone at 21st Century Fox responsible for cultivating the image of either Rupert Murdoch or his Fox News Channel.

After Mr. Murdoch posted a message on Twitter late Friday in which he seemed to assign collective blame for the deadly attacks on a satirical newspaper and a kosher market in Paris to all followers of Islam, the social network lit up with criticism and mockery.

Then, before that wave of digital outrage had even begun to crest, Steve Emerson, a self-described expert on Islamist terrorism, appeared on Fox News to make the startling and false claim that some parts of Europe — including areas of France, London and the entire English city of Birmingham — “are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in.”

Really? Because you'll need to find the post where I said that I was o.k. with FOX or any station misreporting the news.

I know it's hard to get in your head but just like those on the left, not all those on the right are the same. I take what I hear on any station...PBS, FOX, CBS, MSN, NBC, etc....with a grain of salt.

That's why it's always easy to come up with other stations' gaffes.

Nice grabs, Lucy. But perhaps there's a reason we haven't heard much from liberal commentators ( and those people you quotedquoted are commentators...people paid not to report the news but comment on it).

Bill Maher Blasts Liberal ‘Pussy Nation’ For Fear Of Insulting Islam

...liberal commentator Bill Maher slammed politically-correct liberals for not truly standing up for free speech in the aftermath of the attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices. Maher referred to the aforementioned liberals as a “pussy nation,” adding that they must stand up for their principles.

The liberal talk show host also continued his assault on the actions of radical Islam, going out of his way to call the attackers “Muslim terrorists,” while saying that while many Muslims would not carry out such a vile act, “hundreds of millions of them support an attack like this.”

“This was really big shit,” Maher said. “And we have to not avoid who did this.”

“I’m the liberal in this debate. I’m for free speech,” Maher continued. “To be a liberal, you have to stand up for liberal principles. It’s not my fault that the part of the world that is most against liberal principles is the Muslim part of the world.”

“Pussy nation,” Maher said regarding liberals who won’t stand up for free speech.

So... Your standards are, if anyone ever makes a mistake in any organization, the entire organization is totally fucked up?

Does that not also apply to Islam, then? The Obama administration? Socialists in general?

Or does that standard only apply to the one news organization that isnt all leftist propaganda all of the time, as the rest of them are.

Bill maher (a comedian) is not a commentator. That he hates religion especially Islam is NOT a surprise or a secret, BUT he treats ALL religions with contempt, and has done for decades. Oh and liberals even tho he is one.

Actually Lucy, the fact that he is a comedian doesn't change the fact that he is a commentator. His show does not revolve around his comedy, it revolves around his...and others...views on the news.

Yes, his contempt for all religion is well known. But unlike a lot of those on the left, he doesn't seem to be afraid to be "Politically Incorrect" in speaking out about the Muslims.

“Pussy nation,” Maher said regarding liberals who won’t stand up for free speech.

A few comments here.

First off, by saying that free speech is a liberal principle that liberals should stand up for, Maher seems to be indirectly suggesting that free speech is not a conservative principle. There may be some truth to this, as liberals had to stand against various conservatives like Joe McCarthy, J. Edgar Hoover, Nixon, et al. - along with the religious types who wanted to censor rock music, movies, keep certain books out of public libraries, and so on. So, the implication here is that if liberals don't stand up for free speech, no one else will.

Second, to whom, exactly, should liberals stand up in support of free speech? We're talking about homicidal maniacs here - not the kind of people who would be very easily moved by protest or impassioned arguments in support of free speech. This is a matter for law enforcement and the national security authorities. There have been previous incidents where journalists have been killed because somebody didn't like what they wrote or said. While they're criminally heinous and tragic, we can still do our best to catch the criminals and bring them to justice. Just because some may not be frothing at the mouth and consumed with war fever over this, it doesn't mean that they're pussies. I think Maher is a bit over the top on that one.

Third, not wanting to insult someone's religion or race is not exactly something new for liberals. I don't think they do so out of fear, but simple respect and politeness. Some might call it "political correctness" and think that liberals can go too far in that department, which is most likely true in some cases. But it's not due to fear.

Fourth, as far as standing up for free speech and other liberal principles in other parts of the world, that's a matter of foreign policy, which has been a shared enterprise between liberals and conservatives. I actually agree with the idea that we should have a foreign policy based on solid liberal principles, including support of free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press - along with other such human rights and civil liberties. But that's not what our foreign policy has actually been in practice, so if Maher thinks that we're a "pussy nation" because we haven't stood up for liberal principles in other countries, then we've been a "pussy nation" for a lot longer than he thinks.
