http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-31421363 Just spotted tis on the bbc. Is the headline right? Every time a black person gets shot there seems to be a hell of a lot of media coverage, so how did this slip under the radar? Or has the bbc just tried to make something out of nothing?

I realize that the title is what is being used on the media, but I have serious reservations about it running on the scroll here. I am evaluating this at the moment and may have to change the title. I will see if I can get with someone else to help me with the decision. Reading it makes me rather sick, personally, that is why I am holding back and will ask for help to be fair.

The decision is: The title will need to be changed. If the op will contact me in email we can go over what might be fair or acceptable to you. With inflammatory news, the presentation can inflame and become a political discussion that is a bit much for this website. The title and what is being said 'out there' could be very upsetting and we prefer to tone it down. Not to make light of it, but because it is so very serious and could be upsetting to members. I do hope you understand. Thank you

Seems it's being reported widely in terms of coverage on the internet, United States sources and elsewhere. It doesn't appear to me that your title fits the incident and subsequent reporting. Three bonny looking lasses as well, with their lives ahead of them. The amount of idiots walking this planet beggars belief.

Well, it just happened last night, and it seemed that earlier reports indicated that it was over a parking dispute. Now that it appears to be something more, possibly a hate crime, there seems to be more attention now. If it was just over a parking dispute, it probably wouldn't get much national coverage anyway.

Everything I have read, says its not a hate crime, and if it is, its a left leaning atheist that did it. That it was over a parking problem.... All three shot in the head. the wife says hes just not that type of person, people mentioning his facebook shows him liking LGBT anti religion and liberal leanings. WHatever the truth is, he is a sick fuck, and deserves never to see the outside of a jail again. Yes #Muslims lives matter.

We had an incident over here, in Scotland, a couple of days ago - an 85 year old lady stabbed to death with a pair of scissors. Even by the standards I have come to expect of the posters around here, that is stunningly ignorant. Most black people who get shot in the USA don't get any media attention at all - maybe a note in the "police blotter" column of a local newspaper. The exceptions is when they are shot by a white person. This case just shows how integrated into US society muslims really are - they are just as likely to get shot by a random fuckwit over something stupid as anyone else.

I'm not sure that anyone can claim these senseless killings are an indicator of Muslims being successfully integrated into US society. In fact, I'm not sure that any one could use any killing as an indicator of successful integration. There has to be a better way of measuring successful integration than using body counts. I'm not saying these are hate crimes - the jury is still out on that and we will need more info to make any kind of informed call on that. But it does seem to me to stretch things to assert that these poor people were murdered solely or substantially because of disputed parking spots. While this is not beyond the realms of possibility, it seems to me more likely that if parking spots were part of the dispute, there must have been an awful lot of hatred arising out of other issues ....

And/or lunacy. There seems to be some question about the perp's psychological history. (Though, of course in a sense that goes without saying considering what he's just done.) On another note: I found it quite striking that he turned himself in to the police. That seems odd in itself.

A parking space,an argument ,a handgun at the ready....what a senseless,avoidable tragedy. I wonder would it have such finality if the asshole was walking around strapped ? Mod 3 thinks we might have too many gun threads......I'm not sure we have enough [&o]

Yes, its a good job the Moderator found this one....EARLY. Good job Moderator 3 :) This sounds like a very sad amount of events. A very beautiful couple and sister, gun down, over a parking spot argument. Why do we allow loose cannons with guns again? Since no 'honest and law abiding' gun owner would do such a thing. Apparently one did! Even on this forum, the Moderator (fortunately) stopped a thread I had originally created "Good Points on Firearms". The problem is, when people start to get mad and angry at something, the front half of their brain literally starts to shut down. The quicker they go to rage, the quicker that half of the brain shuts down. The front half of the human brain handles all the 'worldly' things like reading, reasoning, arts, thinking, being compassionate, etc. The back half handles emotions (i.e. happy, sad, joy, anger). When the front half of the brain shuts down due to anger, the back half has to pull 'double-duty', which it is not 'designed' to accomplish. That's why someone experiencing great happiness or joy not realizing the stunt they are in the mist off has several bad ways it can end (go look up 'fail blog' on youtube). This individual most likely get mad enough to resort to violence. With a firearm close by, and not ability to calm down or be patient; tragedy was not to far behind. Its been said on thread after thread, that its the responsibility of the owner of the firearm, to make sure its used correctly. Because we are human and prone to becoming so angry we stop thinking clearly. Now if the person did not have a firearm, he could have physically attacked the couple. Maybe kill one or more; but the likely outcome would be getting beaten up and him arrested. Its one thing to be charged with 'assault and battery'; its another to have three counts of murder going into trial. Racial or religious motivation to the attack? From the information that I have studied so far, its unknown. Maybe, maybe not. They looked like a cute couple studying to better themselves. And the sister too! Really sad....
