A Stone in My Shoe

I have a stone in my shoe. It’s not a very big stone. Actually, because of its nature, it’s actually kind of small. Obviously, in order to fit in my shoe, it can’t very well be a boulder and forget about the whole “mountain out of a molehill” thing. I have a stone that is so small; it needs to find the most aggravating places in the shoe in order to make itself feel like it is more useful or better than others would find it, under normal observation. It finds every soft spot in my arch in order call attention to itself so that it can try to make itself appear to be of more relevance than it is. I have a stone.

I have a stone in my shoe that appears to want to be there. I’ve taken my shoe off and turned it perpendicular to the ground and hit it to try and dislodge the stone from wherever it is in the shoe to go down by the heel but nothing falls down. I have turned the shoe sole-side up and tried that. It hasn’t worked. I’ve reached my hand in and tried to remove the stone and that hasn’t worked either. I’ve gone to a cobbler to no avail. I have a stone that seems to want to stay there because if it doesn’t, it will go back to its life of just sitting on the ground, no one noticing it, no one caring. I have a stone.

I have a stone in my shoe that is disagreeable to me. One would think that something like that might go without saying but no. This stone is a much different kind of stone. This stone is not happy with just being a stone. This stone seems to feel that since it could only do the same things that other stones could do, that it isn’t good enough because it’s not better than its peers. So, somehow this stone found its way into my shoe in order to accomplish this lofty goal. I guess, in a way, I should feel flattered that I was chosen. The more lofty the goal, the more important the aircraft one uses to reach it. I have a stone.

I have a stone in my shoe that is just like every other stone except by virtue of its proximity to me; more to the point: my foot. In a way, I give this stone its raison d’etre. Certainly, I give it a cause; a reason to keep fighting toward the goal of being something more than just the other stones on the side that it left behind when it found its way into my shoe. I have a stone.

I have a stone in my shoe that – as far as myself and anyone to whom I have talked about the stone is concerned – only really came into existence the day it decided to annoy me. Until that day it had not been noticed by myself or any of my friends. I guess, in a way this stone owes its present “existence” to me. I have a stone.

I have a stone in my shoe that has put me in such an important place that I am honored. This stone has made me its means and purpose of its very existence.

How fucking cool is it to have your very own stone in your shoe?

Thank you. Very kind. I've never been very good at the creative form of writing. This just kind of flowed out of me with no effort, what-so-ever.
