Thank you all so much, I am on my way there having been showing a big difference.
I had a BMI of 29 when I started and well over weight, those photos are older, but I was a size 14, this for me is to much for me and for my health.
My BMI is now 28.6 so I am getting there slowly, I have a cross trainer coming tomorrow too and my diet is a LOT better.
Salads are a big feature in my life right now and I am not buying anything bad as not to tempt myself.

I will continue to read advise and help! Thank you so much.
Crystal.

I know something I find hard is other people eating tasty food around me and getting the motivation to stay on a diet and exercising.

~~~
don't then....
eat something healthy as soon as you are feeling hungry and this will help you to not be bothered what anyone else is eating...
eat before 6pm each night
drink lots of water
and a word of advice, making yourself vomit not only helps you to loose weight, it also burns the inside of your oesophagus, can make your
teeth rot, develop mouth ulcers and generally not give you nice breath :)
As others have said, exercise is key... I would add that DAILY exercise is key... even if it is a routine that takes only 10 minutes.
We do a daily crunch routine that only takes 10 minutes, walk or cycle as much as possible during errands over the course of the day, and eat healthily and cook everything from scratch... which is not as difficult as people make out. Steamed broccoli, rice and a healthy sized piece of broiled trout takes only 30 minutes to make, and costs about the same or less than a Big Mac and fries.
The greatest success comes from making lifestyle changes that become habits, so introduce ideas that are manageable and sustainable and then stick to them daily.
Christ, they cook themselves. All you have to do is put them in a steamer and turn up half an hour later to take the out.
Spend a couple of hours as a Walmart Greeter in Iowa or Kansas, sometime.
I had a very bad year last year and gained 50 pounds. I am confident that I can get back to myself, and I know that working with weights would only help
I have a basic weight bench and dumb bells from 1 to 10 pounds. I am fine with lifting heavier weights, but this is what I have now to start
When you said 3 sets of 6-15 reps for each muscle group, is that with the same weight for each set...or increased weights with each set?
Any input would be so helpful - thank you.
If you want a leaner and more sculpted look, you should consider weight training, lifting the heaviest you can with 3 sets of 6-15 repetitions for every muscle group. You need a 10 min cardio warm up prior to doing sets and if your Master weight trains he can help with this. The results will be as follows. Or if that is too "muscley" for you then I recommend "FitnessBlender" on youtube. The only way to 100% guarantee losing weight(or gain for skinny people) and stay healthy is to exercise. (Muscle weighs more than fat, scales were a dumb invention).
Unless you're in really really terrible shape, it's unlikely that weights that light are going to give you good results.
The goal in these kinds of sets is to lift with weights high enough that you cannot possible do any more reps than your goal max rep is.
So if you're planning on doing 3 sets of 6-15 reps, you would select a weight that you cannot do 16 reps in good form with on the first set.
So you completely your set of (for example) 15 reps, then rest, and then complete another set with that same weight again.
It's likely that on the second set you won't be able to complete as many reps as on the first one, and that's fine. That's a sign that you selected a weight heavy enough to promote muscle growth.
If you can easily exceed the number of max reps you selected, you're not lifting heavy enough, and you should start with a heavier weight next time. It may take you a while to figure out what weight is right for you for each exercise. If you train right, you will also find yourself quite regularly having to increase your weights, at least until you get to the really heavy stuff.
Also keep in mind that good form is one of the most important things to get good results. Selecting the heaviest weight you can manage does not mean you should sacrifice form in order to drag a heavier weight than you can lift through the exercise with a flailing about, random bad form. Doing this will get you injured.
Finally... despite the fact that you weights you have are not really heavy enough to lift to failure, lifting something is still going to be better than doing nothing at all. If they're all you have access to/can afford at the moment, then by all means, lift with them. When doing so, I'd suggest using your 10lbs for all exercises and increasing your rep count slightly to the 25-30 range (though doing go over that per set without a rest period in between, even if you can).
Thank you so much for the clarification. That's my mindset at this point re: poundage of the weights...I just want to get the habit built.
Thank you again for taking the time to write.
BTW, if you're not sure where to start on what excersises to do, and how, I'd suggest trying http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/find-a-plan.html.
They've got very good plans, exercise videos and so on. You can sort them all sort of ways, including by muscle groups target (exercises targeting more muscle groups at the same time, called compound exercises, will give you better results) and include a lot of exercises that as a beginner, you probably won't need weights for in order to have you reach failure in less than 15 reps (such as various squats and so on).
I just want to throw in too that improper/irregular sleep cycles, increased stress levels, and eating at random points throughout the day can all contribute to an increased waist size.
The body loves to maintain order, so even if someone is working out but their sleep or eating times are way off, the body will not be able to digest and absorb properly. Someone mentioned leptin and ghrelin hormones in a previous comment, they were spot on, but I just wanted to add on that ghrelin levels increase when you are tired. Meaning that when you are tired you have an increased urge to eat, when in reality your body does not need the food. Not always does it just mean that you have to run faster, eat less, or lift more weight to be skinny,there needs to be a balance in the psychological aspect with keeping stress down, sleeping, and having regular meal times. That would be my advice in addition to all the other excellent points made previously.
Thank you - Im aware of ghrelin.
I have a lot of stress in my life - a high-responsibility job and a very long commute. My sleep pattern has become horribly irregular (yay aging!) I do work from home one day a week and am going to request a 2nd day. I have been concentrating on regular meals
I appreciate your comments - thank you again!
1. You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Only you can make your own choices. That is why surrender is by continuous free choice from self will. One cannot "order" a slave to choose anything. Lead by example, not hypocrisy.
2. Calories in - calories burned = calories stored. The time factor on input calories is determined by the Glycemic Index. Food lower on the glycemic index takes longer to metabolize, does not need to be burned as soon, and thus one does not feel as hungry. I.e., a lower workload on the pancreas and liver. Fat has twice the calories by weight than other food. Eat a low fat and low glycemic index diet, and magic (science) begins to happen.
3. Muscles burn calories, even when not exercising. The more muscles one creates from exercise, the more calories one burns when resting. Changing muscle weight takes less time than changing fat weight. Initially, one can actually gain weight by adding muscle, and be more healthy.
4. Rapid weight loss merely puts the body into "scarcity" mode, and tells it to try and save even more energy for a "rainy day" of starvation. Lose 1 Lb per week, and you can keeep it off.
5. High stress messes up everything. Consume natural anti-inflammatory like turmeric in food, and digestion is more relaxed. Meditate and learn to better manage stress.
I sometimes feel fat, my husband goes with me to the gym and works out with me rather than getting me a trainer or sending me to classes. This technique has worked for us but when he isn't motivated enough to put in the effort I don't go. I find it must be exausting to be responsible for everything. A lot of the replies on here are useful for weight loss and healthy good options but I don't see any new ways for the dom to ensure maximum health and optimum health of his sub, which I was hoping to see when I clicked to read the replies. I too would love some suggestions.
1) He sets down a meal schedule for you, either by doing his own research or by hiring a dietitian.
2) He expects you to stick only to the food you're allowed to eat on your meal plan, and spends however much or little time he deems reasonable checking that you actually follow this instruction (mandated food logging, either online or on paper, works well if he wants to verify without putting too much effort in).
3) He sets down an exercise schedule for you, either by doing his own research or by hiring a personal trainer to come up with the plan.
4) He expects you to stick to the exercise schedule not accepting any excuses for missing training (mandated exercise logging, either online or on paper, works well if he wants to verify without putting too much effort in).
5) He either rewards good behavior liberally, or punishes bad behavior consistently, or a mix of the two, depending on what you respond better to.
It ain't that hard... it's just a matter that if you both want him to be the driving force, he'll have to actually do the work to be the driving force.
If he's not that interested being the driving force, he'll probably just continue to lack motivation to kick you in the ass and make you do it (either because he doesn't care that much about you loosing weight, or because he has no interest in doing the work to make it happen) and it'll remain on you to find the motivation within yourself to do it... in which case, still follow the above steps, but self-enforce them.
Here's my two cents: I did wonder why my master doesn't make me work out. I'm a well-trained boy, just a word from him would be enough.
Then again, I'm scrawny by nature, no amount of physical training can turn me into an underwear model. Master likes to keep me fit though.
Well, I had this problem with one of my ex-gf´s to.
Its easy, but it takes 6 months only.
Just walk much. Start with to walk for 40 min when you wake up, so you get very sweaty.
That is the best way to lose calories, on an empty stumach.
Then have a shower and eat carefully - I had my girl to eat only green or tomatoes or corn.
Corn fills up the stumach and make you feel unhungry:) And yes, with as much water as you can
drink also all the day.
Its just about self-control.
Do you love your Master more then food?
Your choice. The hunger will vanish after a time. Learn from the TV-serie; Survivor.
2 first weeks are so very hard, but then you will not even like food anymore, if you are
eating and doing it right.
Put your soul in doing and making some delishes food, that doesnt make you fat.
Read books and learn how to be a good chef.
And most of all - feel and be proud for your hunger.
It is a only a proof for your love and dedication.
Your hunger will fade away so very fast...
