I'm shopping for wrist and ankle restraints, and know pretty much what I want, but am not sure of the right terminology, or whether specific products meet the criteria. What I want is high quality restraints, with two types of leather: sturdy, durable leather straps with locking buckles, and lined with a softer leather for comfort. I've found a few online that look good, but it's hard to tell without actually getting my hands on them. I'm not sure of the right terminology for the different types of leather, and often the product descriptions don't specify anything except "leather", which tells you virtually nothing. - What terms should I look for to describe the sturdy leather to make the restraints solid, durable and secure? Saddle leather? Vegetable tanned? Some other descriptive terms?
- What type of leather is appropriate for the lining, to offer some padding and comfort without compromising the restraint's security? Glove leather? Apparel grade? Chrome tanned? Something else?
Here are some examples below that I'm considering. Can anyone comment on any of the following, or maybe recommend a product that you have tried?
