Texas Sen. Ted Cruz became the first major Republican candidate to declare himself officially in the 2016 presidential race. In announcing his presidential ambition, Cruz repeated a number of dubious claims we have heard before, and a few we haven’t.

Some highlights:

-- Cruz railed against a “government … that seeks to ban our ammunition.” The Obama administration sought to ban a certain type of armor-piercing bullet, not all types of ammunition. The proposal has since been postponed.

-- Cruz claimed that as a result of the Affordable Care Act “millions … have lost their health insurance.” In fact, about 10 million people on net
gained insurance between September 2013 and December 2014, according to the Urban Institute.

-- Cruz also claimed that as a result of the law “millions [have been] forced into part-time work.” There’s no solid figure on how many may have had their hours cut to part time, but one analysis of monthly labor surveys said the number was “likely” a few hundred thousand.

At no point did Cruz say Obama did these things. He just said that he wouldn't.

From Cruz's speech today:

Instead of the joblessness, instead of the millions forced into part-time work, instead of the millions who’ve lost their health insurance, lost their doctors, have faced skyrocketing health insurance premiums, imagine in 2017 a new president signing legislation repealing every word of Obamacare.

* * *

Instead of a government that works to undermine our Second Amendment rights, that seeks to ban our ammunition...

You do know that the Washington Post (not exactly a right wing publication) gave Obama 3 Pinocchios for his speach on guns in NC this past week. He lied about the ease of getting guns, about putting guns in kindergardens and silliest of all that people wanted to allow machine guns in bars.

I still think presidential candidates should have sponsor logos sewn on their suit coats similar to NASCAR drivers. Then, you can see who owns them and which corporation to vote into office.

That's not a bad idea.

Don't you know Tina Fey said that making fun of Palin, Palin never said it.\
In fact most of the stupid quotes from Palin were actually from Fey

I see we've shifted gears from "At no point did Cruz say..." to "But Mom, Obama did it too!"

No, Cruz never mentioned Obama by name, and that always makes a liberal innocent so he must be.
But Obama said things so stupid that he must not be smarter than a forth grader.
Besides I thought that Obama was the measure of perfection so if blatant lies are ok for him hyperbole must be ok for Cruz, and that is all you are whining about.

My thought is each candidate that is running, should be given an equal amount of advertisement time on the television stations for free. So that way, everyone has an equal chance to get their message out, and it would deny all the corporations from spending millions to back their guy or gal... And maybe with that it would level the playing field, and end the days of having to raise almost 1B to make it all the way thru the General election.

Just my opinion.....

Night all

That or just flat out lies. With all the stupid shit she says I don't understand why but maybe some people are just so used to lying that's all they know.

I typically don't watch sean Hannity, but since ted cruz was on last night for the entire hour, I did, and I thought cruz acquitted himself well.

I watched a segment on his announcement on the five---the table was really mixed. dana perino was her usual balanced "he's got strengths and he's got weaknesses." greg gutfeld seemed to be saying he felt ted cruz was more about ted cruz. eric bolling likes him a lot, but said he was maybe too young and as a result of that, suggested its not his time. I don't remember all of what juan Williams said but I think he did say, "of course I wont be voting for him." Kimberly guilfoyle was very enthusiastic about cruz formally entering the race.

a common criticism ive heard is "first term senator" and that maybe we have learned a lesson from our most recent "first term senator."
I think people who think that way are going to look for candidates with "executive" experience, which in part speaks to the popularity of scott walker.

by the way---I don't watch the five religiously, but recently bob beckels not been there and I don't miss him at all. I don't know where he is, but give me juan Williams or Julie roginski any day.

its been my experience that sometimes (which is already too many) "fact checkers" need to be "checked" themselves...
