I read this last night and thought I would share

quote:

It's certainly touching how the $20 lady has suddenly become the Voice of Truth.

Pity there wasn't similar interest in the LGBT perspective on what it might be like to be told, "We're sorry we can't cater your wedding, but your effort to solemnize the love of your life is morally repugnant to me." Or even about whether we experience our orientation as a "lifestyle choice."

While not a "gay lifestyle," I have gotten the shock, horror, OMG! that is horrid!, and so forth about being poly and actually expressing my desire for a poly family. I will say that it has never been as bad as the outrage and lecturing I have received from vegans about my desire to raise chickens and rabbits as food animals, not pets.

I have had many more "that is morally repugnant" comments and reactions to animals as food than I have to, "Ya know, it is gonna be weeks before I can have sex again, my companion really needs to find a girlfriend."

My point being that someone declaring your lifestyle morally repugnant seems to vary from person to person. I really do not give it much credence.

that reminds me, I owe you an email.
and no, poly is nothing like the "gay" experience
its a choice.

Being gay may be or not be a choice. I am so not going there. Having a particular place cater a wedding or design a cake IS a choice.

Eating or not eating meat (by and large) is a choice. However the RESPONSE from the side making a different can be quite similar. (Look at the vegan/vegetarian push against Micky Dees.)

Visit a mom board some time. Breastfeeding versus bottle feeding or co-sleeping versus not co-sleeping, pops to mind. You can be eviscerated for wrongthought in moments.

There is a societal tendency to declare a different choice or decision as "EVIL."

The point being, some group is going to find your life morally repugnant. Whether it is who you want to marry or owning a puppy.

You mean the post attacking "the $20 dyke" for straying off the reservation?

nope
but sure if you wanna go there, be a scumbag.
again

Yeah, no. I saw the post. And the question of how long it would take before someone subjected her to a name-calling attack for her views has been answered. But when the user deleted it, I cancelled the quote box and let it go. Too bad you couldn't.

K.

catering is different than having a cake baked and delivered to a non religious reception hall...
how many weddings are catered at a city hall during the ceremony??? (they cant marry in churches(yes Im ok with that)
The breast feeding issue has been going for as long as I remember, not always a choice I know, and much disagreement about it
Anti vaxxers too, stomach or side or back sleeping. what age to stop breastfeeding(if you can do it for that long)
yeah i know the arguments, Ive heard them myself, even as old as I am.
lol denial of service is different to obnoxious wankers
If you are coming across people slagging you off with religious "reasons" LEGALLY on how you should live your life....you really need a better class of person to hang around with.

I am concentrating just on the part about being called "morally repugnant."

There is a short story that you might like, I know that I enjoyed reading it (multiple times). "And Then There Were None" ~Eric Frank Russell

Here is a link to a copy of it.

http://www.abelard.org/e-f-russell.php (I won't be mean and send you to Baen.)

F - NIW is the theme.

It may give you a look as to why so many of us see the refusal of certain types of service as a freedom. [:)] Anyway, it is a fun story!

Oh, I don't know...I'd say their perspective was heard above all else...at least from a group standing. Of course, it was just one gay lady who offered $ 20.00 and her friends who were appalled at the hate and intolerance shown by some of the protestors. Right?

you are getting SO offended
remember your words and stop telling me what I meant......

1)If it wasn’t intended to offend you, then you shouldn’t be offended.

2) You do not get to decide someone else’s intentions. They do.

3) Being offended is a choice you make. Nobody is responsible for that choice but you.

4) Even if the slight was intended and deliberate, functioning adults understand that they must move on and not dwell over every sideways glance or rude comment.

5) You have to stop doing the trendy internet thing where you write something on a piece of paper and take a picture of yourself holding it up while frowning. It’s just annoying at this point.

Hmmm...let's see. You shared something about how LGBT perspective wasn't addressed. My thought was this: "How nice! Lucy showed us a clip from someone who seems to have a problem with the gay woman supporting the pizzaria owner, given her attachment of the identifier "Voice of Truth" to the gay woman...certainly not something the gay woman or anyone else proclaimed her to be. This person feels there was no interest shown in the LGBT perspective of disagreement with the gay woman, her friends, and the pizzaria owner". I thought: "Hmmm...perhaps this person is confused because there certainly was coverage of the perspectives of the LGBT community who disagree with the law. Maybe that person is unaware? Maybe there are others on here who are unaware? I'll be nice too and post a link showing coverage of their perspective.". 5. Taking a picture of myself with a little sign

Now then, I don't see me: 1. Claiming offense. 2. Stating someone else's intentions 3. Being offended 4. Becoming upset over your rude comment to "sod off" or dwelling on it. 5.

How would you prove that?
