Opening day has always,to me been magical, your team comes out of the spring with a pristine record and hopefully realistic chances to compete.
Anyone else a baseball fan and excited about the upcoming season.
By the way,I bleed pinstripes....go Yankee's

If you bleed pinstripes, you should be able to spell the team's name correctly [;)]

Tanaka had a rough outing today. I'm kind of surprised they gave him the start over Sabathia.

On the flip side, Buchholz had a great start for the Sox and they played a little Home Run Derby at the expense of the Phillies. 4 solo shots and a granny from Hanley Ramirez (so far!). What a great start to the season. [:D]

Don't know what I was thinking when I typed that Stef....my bad on that
But yeah,it could be said I bleed pinstripes,so I feel like shit today.
Tanaka looked flat and there's a few miles missing on his fastball....a fastball he seems hesitant to use, which diminishes his slider to the point where it can be laid off .
It finishes out of the strike zone,He falls behind in the count than throws the meatball fastball and guys strat running around the bases.
Not good and scary as a Yankees fan

I'm always torn when the Mets (childhood team) play the Nationals (home team).

Baseball is not back in Philly. What has taken the field in Philly comes nowhere close to baseball.

DesFIP -> RE: Baseball is back (4/7/2015 9:49:53 AM)

We were somewhere opening day that had the Yankees game on. Even though I grew up a Mets fan, I would have killed for tickets to the Yankee home opener. The one most perfect day we've had yet this spring, and to spend it at the park? Would have been awesome.

Of course, with my luck, had I actually bought tickets, it would have been cold and damp.

Not a big fan, but, I cheer for anyone who beats the yanks, except when they play the dodgers in which case I pray for the earth to open up and consume them both.[:D]

Matt Harvey made a great appearance, today. He pitched great, all through spring so it's no surprise but he struck out nine, pitched 6 innings of shut out ball and was at 97 MPH eight times in the first inning, alone!

The Brewers aren't playing to well to start their season as well. 0 - 3 start against the Rockies. Pitching staff gave up 16 ( yes 16 ) doubles in the first 3 games.

We're only eleven games into the season but ...

Don't look now, the NY MUTTS are in first place!

When I was a young teenager I was so into baseball. I knew all the players of my home team and their stats. Then I went to a game. It was a twi-night double header. The first game ended 1-0. The second game ended 1-0. Both the runs were on homers. Basically the pitcher through the ball to the catcher who threw it back to the pitcher, over and over again. I don't remember there being base runners but then that was 50 years ago.

That ended my time as a baseball fan. Sad but true.

That's not exactly cricket ,is it ?

I'll tell you this,I never wanted to see Arod back in pinstripes, after the way he tarnished the brand I was hoping they could find some way out of that contract.

But hot damm he's stroking the damm ball,he's on good fastballs and even beating a good inside fastball to the spot and driving it.
He looks six years younger !!!!!!

I wonder if he's juicing again [:D]

They left town before I arrived in '81, so I don't have any personal memories of them. I did marvel that resentment over their departure still smoldered among longtime Washingtonians. And I once saw a brilliant performance of Damn Yankees. [:)]
