The legitimate discussion and debate is that none of those clowns will be elected president.

Anything else?

Actually, that's not legitimate discussion. The use of the word "clowns"...demonizing, insulting, anyone?...moves it to, as markyugen notes, "flinging poo".

mnottertail -> RE: Republicans for President!! (5/28/2015 7:40:27 AM)

No, clowns is as legitimate as I can make it. fiscal disasters is only one aspect of their buffoonery, their 'religious' views another, their total divorce from the reality of America another, their eagerness to sell us into slavery to the Chinese another.

I cant call them what I want to because of TOS.

But 'demonize' that's fuckin cute, you demonize elected and appointed officials constantly, and Hillary as well, and any other person, Soros, whoever that doesnt conform to 'conservative' shitbreathing propaganda hallucinatory conspiracy asswipe.

Since these people will never be elected, they get a pass on demonization, is that right?

I don't recall you demonizing the compassionate democrat who tweeted his wishes for a Republican congresswoman's children to die terrible deaths.

As a matter of fact, when it comes to demonization...I'd say your use of the terms "thugs", "goons", "rabid", "shitbreathers" to characterize anyone not on the left, whether it be elected officials or participants on this board, is your forte...not mine.

mnottertail -> RE: Republicans for President!! (5/28/2015 8:36:50 AM)

Your recollections of anything are suspect. However, I don't recall you demonizing walker for the selfie comment, I dont recall you demonizing W for Iraq, I dont recall you demonizing the shitbreathers who thought that rape was a beautiful thing, I dont recall you demonizing republicans for stripping out money for vets, I dont recall you demonizing a great deal of shitbreathing.

Latest Poll results from Quinnipiac
http://www.quinnipiac.edu/news-and-events/quinnipiac-university-poll/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=

Five Leaders In 2016 Republican White House Race, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Rubio, Paul Are Only Republicans Even Close To Clinton

There are five leaders - or no leaders - as Republican voters look at likely GOP candidates in the 2016 White House race, with no candidate above 10 percent and 20 percent undecided, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

Leading the pack with 10 percent each are former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.

Rounding out the top 10 for televised debates are U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky at 7 percent, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 6 percent, Donald Trump at 5 percent, New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie at 4 percent and Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 2 percent each.

Trump tops the "no way" list as 21 percent of Republican voters say they would definitely not support him. Bush is next with 17 percent, with Christie at 15 percent.

I swear I just said this about Rubio.

Times of crisis are not times to play politics.

All you have to do to prove that my recollections are suspect in this instance is bring forward proof that there's a thread in P AND R, discussing politics, where you haven't used one of those terms or something similar to describe anyone not on the left.

As for Walker...if you're talking about the selfie where he's in the White House measuring for blinds, presumptuous on his part. If you're talking about comparing teachers unions to terrorists...simply by stating that if he could take on 100,000 of them, he could take on radical Islam...it was an idiotic comment. Still not the same as wishing for the DEATH of someone's children in a horrible manner.

Why would I demonize Bush? I don't happen to agree with you.

If there's been a thread where someone was glorifying rape and I agreed with them, bring it forth. Don't think you can find one though...because I've stated on here before what I think of rape. Cowardly and a capital crime.

As for Republicans stripping veterans, don't forget that dems have done their share. They're both wrong.

I don't mind calling an idiot an idiot...right or left. Big difference between you and me.

bounty44 -> RE: Republicans for President!! (5/28/2015 7:09:36 PM)

i think that's one of the differences between left and right that we've pointed out before.

too often people who act contrary to, or advocate a position against the left, are "wicked."

its not just a matter of disagreement on principals for leftists, its that you disagree because you are evil (racist, sexist, homophobe, greedy, islamaphobe, zenophobe, whatever, etc).

its morally despicable, intellectually effete and the word vile comes to mind to describe it.

JVoV -> RE: Republicans for President!! (5/28/2015 9:48:18 PM)

I'd say there's a certain amount of that on the right too.

If the cap fits wear it.

One need look no further than these threads to see that almost all the racism, homophobia and other socially-induced hatreds/neuroses are the property of the far right. This is not to say that all right wingers are racists or homophobes - many to their credit are not.

However, for example look at the thread on the Irish referendum on marriage equality and one sees a paucity of positive reactions to the Irish vote from our resident far/looney right wingers. As far as I can recall, not one of them had anything positive to say about the result, they all managed to find something negative to say or whine plaintively about the result. The most likely reason for their reticence is that they disliked the result of the Irish vote, which lends itself to suggestions of homophobia. One can see this pattern repeated in threads on hate crime or other threads that are race-related.

One good way to stop these accusations being levelled at right wingers would be for other right wingers to call out other the racists and homophobes in their ranks when appropriate but this doesn't seem to happen often at the moment.

What I see repeated is this notion of sharing the approved view as a measure of mental fitness, and failure to do so as diagnostic.

Your side's super into the personal attacks as well so you can get off your high horse there.

the left is characterized by what I just said. there is no equivalent on the right.

aberrational personal attacks aside, which are not close to what the left does either in kind or degree, my position on the horse is pretty secure.

whether I find racism/sexism, etc evil is irrelevant to the point. which is (again) these are things the left calls people on the right as a result of their social/political/religious disagreements.

the situation is made all the more problematic by the left conveniently redefining words to suit their purposes.

Saying I agree with equal opportunity but not forced equality of outcome doesn't make me racist or sexist, it makes me someone who believes in a level playing field.
