Shockingly, one of the main go-to sources for news for many on the left, comedian Bill Maher, blames Matt Drudge, Fox News and Conservative Media for the shooting...

Not a shock that he takes this tack. Sick yes, surprising no.
He didn't even claim that the stories were untrue, but just about blacks.
I am not defending this guy, however blaming people for carrying stories about black crime only feeds the kind of paranoia he displayed. Again we have well meaning liberals hurting the very people they want to help. And I am not blaming Maher and his ilk for the attack. But someone reading his take, who was already a paranoid racist would use him as justification as much as Drudge.

I could almost see people making violent attacks on conservatives because of the hate spew coming from people like Maher

Hang on... During the recent riots... FOX News crews WERE attacked

I AM some kind of a prophet or something (works best in hindsight though)

Like gays, right?

Or is that how I could tell that George Zimmerman actually wasn't white (fully, at least), but many black people couldn't?

It was the name, and the race-baiting media ran with the narrative before it came out that he is Hispanic

Made them look like what they are, that

8.5% of the population in China is considered an "ethnic minority" vs roughly 35% of the US population.

But are the physical characteristic differences obvious enough to visually identify a minority at a distance? As obvious, for example as black and white?

JVoV, 8.5 % of 1.357 billion people is a little over 115,000,000 which is half our population.

The polarization that happen on threads here is a much smaller scale of what is happening in America where these crimes are being commited. So much anger at someone else. I just don't comprehend it. Because they are: 'insert hated person or people'
White
Black
Gay
Straight
Left Winged Liberal
Right Winged Conservative
Democrat
Republican
Christian, Wiccan, Muslim, Jewish etc and so on via religions
Short
Tall
Fat
Thin

You get the drift. If people here can't even discuss an issue without annoying each other, what makes us believe that others who do not agree with any other group will? Now add in radical beliefs that your group or people are superior to others, a mental health issue, and some guns and it's a hate crime in the making.

We are doomed as a society........

I absolutely agree with you. But may I add a couple of points. It's not the conservative side that has made up rules of what you may or may not say in public. It's not the conservative side that invents "triggers" that must not be broached and never discussed. It's not the conservative side that makes these things so that they can control people and speech. What we are doing here is after years of being stifled in public saying we'll not put up with that sort of BS anymore. The only way the divide can be resolved is discussion which PC speaking won't allow. So, I see that there will be a transition period where we take back our voice and stop allowing the only discussion to be voiced to be controlled by the liberal side.

I don't honestly don't think you can put all the blame on one faction or another that easily. They all have their ups and downs and make rules that are bad. So again, we can't agree on anything, but if people would just step up and say they screw up and choose to see we are actually all the same, things would change. I know, call me a dreamer...........[:D]

Didn't you, in another thread, discuss how you're treated as gay?

Yes.
Why?

Look here, look in society. I am treated the same way as a white male. I am expected to feel guilt and to shut up and be a pack mule to toot and carry and have no input. I feel the same way about the people who treat me that way, the leftists, as you do about people who treat you a certain way because you are gay. Yet, even you told me that I shouldn't have those feelings and I'm wrong. So, with all due respect, because I do respect you, I find that hypocritical.

Why would you think that you should have no input? I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to convey.

I do think that sometimes just blaming the whole 'other' group, is counter intuitive, and brings no understanding at all. Getting to know the 'other' group is important because not everyone in that 'other' group will be treating you the same way. For instance, what if I told you I am a Liberal Leftist and a hard core Radical Feminist? Would you say that you 'never guessed' because I discuss things rationally and you have respect for me? Or would you suddenly change how you view me and lose respect for me due to your stereotype of the whole group? Would you not believe that our discussions are true and that I was interested in what you had to say and in your feelings? The whole idea of someone can change based on how we view their assumed group. That was what I was trying to explain. All people should be valued and their beliefs and opinions and no one should be shamed into shutting up and not discussing their feelings rationally, without drama. That is very hard to find today and I think if we stopped with 'they said this and so we yelled over them' or vice versa, and just LISTENED without getting all angry, the world would be a happier place.

I hope this explained it clearer, I sometimes hate the internet because it is hard to really get a feel for what the other person is saying, voice inflection and such.

P.S. I bet you are wondering if it is true what I described myself as above....I'll never tell. LOL

P.P.S. I do value your opinions as well.

I didn't say I shouldn't have input. I said they thought I shouldn't have input. I'm looked at as a white male by those feminists and a part of the rape culture. I'm perfectly fine with anyone being what they want to be. It's they, those "others" who stereo type me. Leftists say they are open minded, yet, you see so many post here showing they are closed minded it's laughable to us on the right that they actually believe that. You can be what ever you want and I take you as you present yourself to me. Continue to present yourself to me as you have and I'll continue to respect you, even if I don't agree with you. Discuss things politely with me and I'll continue to be polite to you. But, keep in mind, I still wonder why I have to explain this. Nobody on the left acts like that...with rare occasions.

Why, I've told the story at greater length before and I won't bore people again now, but when a woman at work tried to get me fired, ruin my career, by charging me with a fake sexual harassment charge, so she could be promoted into my job, when she was found to be lying, they promoted her out to somewhere else and sent me to sexual harassment training where for two days I had to sit and be "taught" that it was my fault because I was a white male. (Sorry for the run on sentence). That's typical. I was actually talking back with the "instructer" for half a day or so until they sent my boss to tell me to not talk, just sit and listen, or loss my job. That sort of thing is common, not an exception.

Cultural differences, I understand. But physical? Maybe I don't know what to look for. Hell, I probably couldn't identify a person by country just by looking at them.

Keep in mind I spent five years with a woman who grew up in China. She'd point stuff like that out. I often freak out chinese people by knowing what part of the country they're from. Funny, as an aside, she and I used to go eat in Chinatown in San Francisco at times. She'd tell me what all of the Chinese people were saying around me. She spoke most, if not all, Chinese dialects. You want to,hear racism, try doing that. I found it funny. Which sometimes gets me in trouble because I have a corallary hard time understanding why groups here call little things like trigger points as racist or sexist or what ever est.

you may not be able to tell the difference but a Chinese, a Korean, and a Japanese can spot each other a block away.

My female now is asian. Grew up in Asia. She can tell you where Asians are from. There are, of course, exceptions.

What do you mean more east?

I speak mostly Castillion Spanish. But I also grew up with neighbors from Cuba & Puerto Rico, so I still mix things up a lot, especially being out of practice.

I took French in school so I could talk to all the French Canadian girls I used to meet at the resort where I worked in the Summers. What a fucking waste of time that turned out to be!

K.

OK then let me ask you a question: Is a solution to the problem of gun violence possible given the current political realities and the 2nd Amendment?
If you feel a solution is possible, please outline it. If you feel a solution is not possible at the moment, what needs to change in order to arrive at and implement a solution?

The solution you are promoting is not an option with the 2nd Amendment in place. Repealing the 2nd Amendment, would be the only way to even come close to allowing that to happen, and I don't know that that a possibility at this point.

The issue in this case wasn't a gun. It was "gun violence" only because he used a gun. He was likely to have perpetrated his act in another manner, as he saw killing these people as being his part to prevent "black people" from pulling the "white race" down. He wanted to foment a civil war with the desired goal of black people being expelled from America. Someone with that much hate is going to find a way to do what he thinks is necessary, or what needs to be done to perform his role/duty.

Racism was the cause of this shooting. If not for the racism, it wouldn't have happened. This dickhead planned and calculated his actions. A gun was one way to do it, but certainly not the only way. To think this wouldn't have happened if only dickhead hadn't gotten a gun, isn't really going to help prevent further instances of this event.

You see a gun involved, and that's what you seek to limit. I see a racist attack, and that is what I wish to limit.

Wouldn't this race war thing be eerily similar to the Manson murders ?

I'm not sure what you mean Bama, as I recall, Manson had some illusion that the murders he sent his minions out to commit would get blamed on blacks and start a race war.

First, this post is not really intelligible.

>Of all the images the Times had available to print, they chose a photo more calculated to further the "racist America" narrative than to reflect reality. Except for some fringe "Rooters" (yeah, I'm coining a word), I think the ones below are closer to the truth of how the vast majority of American citizens feel about the outrage this man committed. <

?? I am bozo, because I can't follow your logic or point at all.

After reading the paper today, it struck that the reason he is burning the American Flag relates to the North winning the civil war and freeing the slave. He'd prefer that the South rise again under the values and traditions of the Confederate Flag.

Really? That's probably the most stupid thing I've ever heard from a twisted mind. You hate so much is the only thing I can think of that would come up with that. It struck you? Fairy dust again obviously.

Definitely a twisted mind but for once he might be on to something.
