The thrust of the response to this incident seems to be not another push for gun control but an outbreak of Tweaks non-leathal ethnic cleansing with the usual suspects trying to wipe the nation clean of anything that smacks of southern heritage.

Southern heritage can not be limited to a five year rebellion, nor the institution of slavery that the rebellion wanted to protect.

But we have many who are too narrow in their thinking to realize that.

The ones narrow in their thinking are the ones arguing to keep the flag flying.

But I think having churches segregated by choice is fairly narrow-minded as well.

No, the narrow minded are those who, starting with the flag, are trying to purge American society of anything having to do with southern heritage.
For example a NYT movie critic has called for the banning of Gone With the Wind and there was a move to change the name of Ft Bragg GA. It was named after Col Bragg who later became Gen Bragg of the Confederate army.

Bama, it's the deconstruction of white males by the left. It's been happening for years. It will continue.

I know, and this is one of the most blatant examples. Divide and conquer, northern white males can be made to think they are doing the right thing, and like with the civil rights act they will be shocked when it gets to them.

Remember
Freedom of speech first and foremost protects unpopular speech. If it only protected popular speech it would have no point.

Banning "Gone With The Wind" would be greatly disrespectful to the Oscar winning performance of Hattie McDaniel.

That seems truly counterproductive.

The whole movement is, it is purging the existence of the largest minority in the country. If this kind of purge were even mentioned for blacks or Hispanics the outcry would be deafening.

One of these days you might actually learn what 'deconstruction' means, and I will have one reason less to laugh at you. While there's virtually no reason to believe it will ever happen, I'll be happy if it does. It's always a good thing when someone learns something useful. [sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif]

well, aren't you wonderfully full of Google searches. Playing tit for tat in order to derail the conversation.

and a fair portion of the quotes are out of context and are misrepresentations of what was actually being said. in the bill o'reiily case, grossly so.

and I wonder how those quotes are somehow indicative of the right wing being "guilty" of race issues?

Today Obama turned the pastors eulogy into a political speech to push gun control.
Real class act.

As a general thing the right wing will see a particular issue as 'common sense', 'ordinary' and 'normal'. Part of the left wing's purpose is to deconstruct* that supposed normality.

As a rule, it's useless for anyone of the Right to accuse anyone of the Left of 'politicising' something. For those of us on the left the thing concerned is already politicised - not despite of the fact, but exactly because of the fact, that it's been made to be seen as 'common sense, ordinary and normal'.

I'm saying this because righties all too often don't seem to grasp the first thing about where lefties are coming from, nor why they say what they do.

*Note to Hunter - that was an example of the correct usage of the word 'deconstruct'. :-)

You think using this mans death for political gain is ok because there is a political issue it can be tied to?

Yes, he should have said, "Assault rifles and armor piercing bullets" for everyone.

No, he should have talked about the pastor and not politics, the words you are putting in my mouth would be as bad as what he did. You may not realize this but there is a middle ground.

In part

He included another appeal for gun regulations toward the end of his remarks, saying, "It would be a betrayal of everything Reverend Pinckney stood for ... if we allow ourselves to slip into a comfortable silence again."

I will find more and get back to you.

What do you think the congregation were thinking then ? It would be odd if they felt President Obama was out of line, mentioning mass shootings, given the circumstances. [8|]
