Did W half mast the flag for every soldier killed in Iraq? He wouldn't even allow pictures of their flag draped coffins.

Absolutely

Actually former US President George W. Bush never went to Dover Air Force Base to 'greet' the honorable fallen from his 'war' in Iraq. Nor Afghanistan. In fact, by executive order, prohibited the media from observing or recording when the planes came back from overseas, and whom was being carried out with military honors.

The administration did not want the American people to see the....REAL....cost of war.

Fortunately for you and your usual drivel, this is not a gun thread.

Bullshit this is a gun thread!

Would this attack have taken place, with so many dead, if a gun was not involved? That the firearm was so easily obtained to allow the attack to take place?

Ever take on a US Marine, whom is trained and combat tested, in their 20's, in hand to hand combat in a duel to the death? That's why firearms were used....

Ever take on....FOUR US MARINES.....at once, whom are trained and combat tested, in their 20's, in hand to hand combat in a duel to the death (by yourself)?

Go ahead,.....TRY.....to argue this....ISN'T.....a gun thread!

Then it is a good thing you weren't at Garland.

Yep...yahoos

Of course there are a few well trained X military and law enforcement among gun owners... but they are few and far between. The vast majority of YAHOOs who think they are Rambo's are more a danger to themselves and innocents then any terrorists. Thank heavens the Garland terrorist were Yahoo's themselves. With well trained attackers there would have been a much different outcome.

We need professional protection, be it law enforcement, military, or licensed private security. Not your weekend warrior, bless them, that are lucky to know one end of a gun from the other.

Butch

Most terrorists are fanatics. They look really deadly because they attack the defenseless.
Your solutions give us one of two choices, don't protect them, or put more of a strain on the active duty forces.
Your objections are based on a number of erroneous assumptions.
A All guardsmen would be armed.
No evidence of this. If the Mo proposal is like the others already enacted it allows the guard to arm enough people to protect the facility, but they have to allow the guard to be armed to arm anyone.
B That they would have full-auto weapons with armor piercing ammo, did you get this idea from Joe
C That we have to leave places like recruiting stations unprotected because if they shoot back that could lead to civilian casualties.
Of course the terrorists would never gun down a few civilians just because they are there.
D That the average terrorist is magically superior to the average guardsman.
Not only is this incorrect but it ignores the fact I alluded to in A that they wouldn't be facing the average guardsman.

There are more but get your head around these things for now.

He got a job in May at a nuke plant and was only stopped because he failed the drug test, had he not been a drug user this would have been far worse than 9/11.
It is about terrorism not guns.
Terrorists have means of getting around any gun laws (see Paris) so if you miss getting your tail kicked about guns start a gun thread. We will go on discussing security and security solutions for the MILITARY.

Bama what the hell are you talking about... I agree with you... then you can't shut up talking nonsense. We are talking National guard not reserves... they don't know crap... they cannot be trusted with weapons protecting recruitment depots... is this not what we are talking about? As for the bases they already have a MP attachment... nothing more is needed.

Nothing is more irresponsible than allowing untrained Rambo's stand in front of depots, as in Kirata's link...stupid... If you can't see this then you will officially join the nutcases .

Now for responsible responses... just watch what happens... you will NOT see armed national guard in front of recruitment depots... You will see more secure areas.. security doors...pylons and scanners. There will be short term law enforcement coordination and arming of recruiters... that will be it.

All your silly bullshit will not come to pass... If it does you have my permission to gloat.

Butch

And you can join the Mind Readers Union. Do you know those guys you're insulting? Do you know their level of skill and/or training with firearms? Do you know anything at all about them? They could be ex-Special Forces, for all you know. Get a fucking grip.

You have given all of the excuses I debunked.
I have no intention of gloating about anything.
I don't believe in obvious armed guards in front of recruitment centers, but I do approve of recruiters being allowed to carry, in our current situation it only makes sense.
If a unit doesn't have MPs they should be empowered to take precautions, and if you look at page one you will see that I don't claim that means arming everyone.
Every guard unit has men who are very good, they don't all have to be, as I pointed out.
Nobody says have all guardsmen armed, just empower commanders to take precautions they deem to be needed any more than anyone wants every serviceman on a military base armed, but they want the people who are protecting them need to have the equipment and latitude to do so.

Army To Recruiters: Treat Armed Citizens as Security Threat

http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/07/22/army-to-recruiters-treat-armed-citizens-as-security-threat.html?ESRC=todayinmil.sm

And it begins. The fed now wants those that want to do good to go to jail.

quote:

Recruiters were ordered not to interact or acknowledge the armed civilians, who have been greeted by a mix of concern, indifference and gratitude by the public.

"If questioned by these alleged concerned citizens, be polite, professional and terminate the conversation immediately and report the incident to local law enforcement …," the command advised.

If people were standing outside your front door, without an invitation, carrying weapons, what would your first instinct be?

Gee, that's a tough one. I don't know how I'd ever figure that out...

Can I think about it for a while?

Ken who the hell is screening theses nuts.. Yes I would worry about armed people outside my door... for all we know terrorists could be among them.

I say stay home if you don't have jobs
Go to work if you do
The military is perfectly capable of defending themselves.

Maybe if members of the military were armed, they could defend themselves.

How do you know they are nuts? Oh right, they have firearms.
Hint terrorists don't turn their backs to their intended victims.
