The other day I started a new pack of birth control pills. Before then I'd been using a hormonal IUD (levonorgestrel-based) until it popped out. The pills are norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol.

Two days later I find an odd rash on the underside of my upper arm. Looks like five big bug bites, a little puffy and a little itchy if I start touching them.

While I was/am hoping the rash has another cause, I'm leaning more toward an allergic reaction to the pills. I did stop taking them and plan to go back to Planned Parenthood tomorrow.

Has anyone else had a bad reaction to some form of birth control? What were your symptoms and how did you handle it?

When I was on the injection, I had a period for three months straight. I, obviously, never had another injection after that.

I was on one of the main brand pills for a while, went off it, then started it again and ended up with a resting heart-rate of between 90 and 130-ish even when doing nothing. Could've been to do with the pill, could've been anxiety or a mix of both but to play it safe, the Doctor and nurses took me off it anyway.

Now I'm on the progesterone-only pill with no issues. And it actually increases my libido (like it wasn't high enough before anyway... ;)) instead of taking it down a notch or two.

I think m y body is allergic to every form of birth control
seven pregnancies, seven birthcontrol methods failed,
As to your rash...it could be a change in the level of hormone or type, im not really up on the different types these days, but a change in hormones can affect your whole body....since i had my tubes tied, Ive been on BC just to control my periods, cysts, fibroids n tumours. Im a medication now for endo, and to end my periods.....and Ive been bleeding for 56 days.
im also getting vertigo....which is not an allergy but its pretty unpleasant.
Good luck with your allergy hon...I hope you find something that works
