Dang it...I just started reading another book and I can't go get The Martian at the library (its probably checked out anyway). We are deciding if we should go watch the movie or not (Mom can't drive at night).

I thought the book was boring, the characters were just so superficial. At least it was a quick read!

I read a lot of science fiction so it is possible that my expectations were too high.

I liked the movie, but it had some spots that just dragged.

After reading the book, you realize that they missed some really good dialog that probably would have taken up about a minute.

The author gave an interesting interview on NPR about how he wrote it.
I think it was on Science Friday.

He wrote it as an internet book in chapters and when "fellow geeks"
corrected his science he would rewrite. So except for artistic liberties
neccesitated by the movie process it should be pretty good in that respect.

My wife just bought it last night, but with a seven month old infant, I curious when she'll read it. (Plus, we haven't been to the movies in seven months, either.)
