Bunnicula -> Needles and pins and blood - oh my! (11/17/2015 9:45:23 AM)

In one of the recently 'poofed' threads I got into conversation with LadyP about a needle play scene she was planning.

Now, although I'm a masochist I've never tried needles. I don't really know why, it's just never been on my 'to do' list, or that of my Master's.

For those of you who HAVE done needle play, what kind of pain is involved?

Is it a mild pain, along the lines of 'ouch - nettles!' or more on the 'OMG THAT FUCKING HURTS!!!'

My pain experience usually revolves around caning (until bloodshed quite often), whips, clover clamps (seriously yummy!) and lots of different hitty things.

My masochistic little brain is trying to figure out if needles are something I'd like to explore [:D]

I'm curious too.

I'm terrified (weeping in the corner scared, throwing up scared, passing out scared- all the drama) of needles. So...we have never done it, and I don't know I'd be brave enough to do it.
I mostly want to live through someone else's experience here.

Ive experience with giving shots, insulin shots, IM and other places, but that was years ago, altho I dont think its something you forget, BUT not for decoration or more than a "pinch"
Ive stuck myself, and oranges to practise that, and Ive done some self exploration, well...enough to go, nah fuck that for a game of soldiers(I am NOT a maso).
I couldnt do it as a bottom, but yes, needles have been interesting for decoration and play purposes.
One of my favourite masos, offered up her body for practise, but at the time, I was not comfy with it...Now is different:)
Ive been playing with scalpels at home in the last few weeks
it started out as a craft thing, with cutting thin layers, but now its a kinky craft idea.:)
I dont like needles in my own skin, so I dunno about the endorphin effect, I wont go into my own dental phobia reasons:)

The thing is, I have to give myself an injection every week using a pre-loaded cartridge syringe. I don't even feel it. I give blood every month and I rarely feel that needle either.

I don't know if it's because I have a very high pain threshold (which has been remarked upon in the past) or whether those needles are designed not to hurt whereas 'play needles' are.

Will I get anything out of needle play or will my high pain threshold stop me from enjoying it?

See...I don't even think its pain I'm afraid of?

With other needles, its disease for me. And the power that needle could hold. I mean- it could kill you easy as pie. Plus...I'm afraid of them breaking inside my skin.

I don't know how realistic those fears are when it comes to needle play though.

I've come to love this expression.

It's like Opera. From the start, some people love it or they hate it. The ones in the middle? Some of them can learn to appreciate it. They can see the art. Appreciate the notes. They might *come* to love it but they aren't inspired by it.

Every needle top has accidentally stuck themselves. It's like learning to throw a whip. Sooner or later, you tag yourself. I don't consider it a big deal.

I'd have to look for it. Do you know they actually did a study regarding how people react to a needle when getting their blood drawn? Apprehension makes the pain worse. Needle tops already know this. There's a difference in the pliability of the skin. If they tense up, you know it.

You? Yeah. I'd say give it a shot. If it's not the greatest thing you've ever done, no loss. On the other hand, if you love it, could be something pretty amazing.

I don't get apprehensive with needles - not any more! To me it's more of a 'meh' experience within the medical environment.

Perhaps I'll give it a go - can't do any harm, can it! [8D]

Needles are interesting.
The small gauge don't hurt at all unless you get a bunch of them together and use them for design. Each one that goes in starts to hurt a bit more and pretty soon you are tensed up from seeing them piercing your flesh. At least that is my reaction.
The larger gauge can hurt. Physically they punch a hole in your skin kind of making you like a doughnut.
Some areas hurt more than others. I don't mind them going through the skin as long as I am looking away. But when they get shoved through my nipples that hurts a bit more as the needles tend to be longer and thicker.
As far as feelings go, my flesh at the nipples will pucker tighter and is definitely sensitive.
The effects for me is a head rush.

Ummm... Not, hon. We're not talking about shoving rusted metal spikes through your heart.

The needles are the same as the ones you'd get at the doc or dentist. (In fact, needle play can help folks be less afraid of those procedures.) We're not talking about needles that have been used on other people before. (That's how disease can be spread.) The needle top should have a working knowledge of blood born pathogens to avoid that kind of thing. Even stuff like taking the needles out of the package prior to use is something a lot of tops will avoid so particles of dust don't contaminate them.

Are we doing ok so far?

Lucylastic -> RE: Needles and pins and blood - oh my! (11/17/2015 10:57:15 AM)

I remember when I was training, was working an orthopedic ward and had to give pain relief via the butt, so her i am in the middle of the night, 2am med round. patient wakes up and turned over and presented her butt, we talk for a few(nice n calm) and I give her the injection, try to move a finger out of the way to swipe it with a swab, and the needle was thru my finger, clean thru into her ass.. was a bit of a panicky moment before I remembered I could pull the needle out, it took me a few minutes and hurt like the dickens. But it didnt hurt going in
This was before the HIV issue, but there was some panic because she had a deep nasty blood infection after her surgery.

Bunnicula -> RE: Needles and pins and blood - oh my! (11/17/2015 11:25:30 AM)
