I was asked for information about techniques for caning needles once they were in. I didn't have a photo of the railroad tracks set up handy but I did have one of a caning set up. I am usually having so much fun I forget to take pictures. Type of needles The longer 2", 3" (or more) needles work better. Your needle needs to be long enough to go under the skin leaving an inch or so for you to hit with the cane. You need to leave some meat to beat. You can do this with any gauge needle, so long as you don't beat on the thin gauge needle too hard and bend them or pop the corks off. I prefer heavier gauge needle for this type of play like 18 gauge to 14 gauge. Also, the bigger gauge stays in the cork better than smaller needles. Type of corks When you are striking the skin over the needles, they bounce around a lot. You need to cork the ends firmly so the needles don't slide out. It also stops the points from slapping around cutting up the skin. Mini corks from the craft store are nice if you are spacing the needles out. Wine bottle corks a nice for a tighter pattern and the bigger corks hold more firmly when I get rough. For example, with a chest full of mini corks, if you throw your partner down on the bed face first, some of corks will pop off. But the wine bottle corks and big gauge needles will survive face down play and sex. It tweaks the needles as they move on the bed. Inserting the needles I start off making a nice row of needles. If you space them out a bit further than pictured below, like a 1/2 inch or so, they will make very lovely railroad track pattern bruises. I pinch the skin between thumb and forefinger, pull it up and stick the needle through the flap I created. You can feel it pop once as it penetrates and pop again when it exits. OK, sometimes I twirl the needle and drill it in slowly if the occasion calls for it. :) Personally, my best results are with 6 to 12 needles per area. It gives me better control with fewer corks to monitor. A tight pattern is about 6 needles per wine cork. To me, it seems like when I have 50 needles with corks on them, my focus gets diverted to monitoring them or fixing the one that popped off. Applying the corks With mini corks, I insert the needle through the narrow bottom end, holding the cork carefully on the sides. I am less likely to stick myself than if I push the cork with my thumb on top. I am fluid bonded with my slave so that isn't a big deal . . . but I would hate to stick myself when I am supposed to be sticking her! With wine corks, I insert the needle into the side. I hold the cork by the top and bottom. Using the cane The cane on needles can be intense. So I'll warm them up to it. I use a thin flexible rattan cane like you would an evil stick. I lay the cane down on the patch of flesh over the buried needle shafts, pull it back and let it snap. This method gives me a lot of control. My aim is dead on and I can gauge the force accurately by how far I pull back. It should get a rise out of the most devout masochist. To be gentle, more sexy and get tactile feedback, I use my finger. I set my middle fingernail on my thumb and flick the needles. I can feel the impact on her soft flesh and then bumping the needles below. It's an awesome feeling for me. Hearing how her moans change as I strike against the needles below her skin. Like the difference between a paddle and bare hand spanking. Feeling their tortured flesh in your hands is nice. When getting rough, I will swing the cane like normal. I have done that with big and small gauge needles. But over the years, I have come to like the longer big gauge needles so I have a more forgiving target area. Precautions Have a stout pair of wire cutters. If you play with a non fluid bonded partner and stick yourself after the needle pierced them, it is a courtesy to cut the end in you off before pulling needle out so you don't contaminate them too. Note The person that wrote me also said, "I've gotten some good responses with weaving conductive thread around needles to use with a violet wand." Damn, that sounds like fun. Thanks for the idea. To the OP, thanks for starting this nice thread. This pic isn't for caning, but it was the only pic of mini corks I had off hand Needles with wine corks and a nice fleshy patch set up and ready to be caned The bruising after caning needles
