Hello All. I'm curious if there are any Master Carpenters on this site who are familiar with old school construction techniques such as mortise-n-tenon, or perhaps what a double blind dove tail is. Ideally I'm looking for someone to bounce some ideas off of that require knowledge of exotic hardwoods, metal-free joint construction, electrical, and wood finishing to name a few.

Master C.

Vixen:

I am not a master carpenter, but I do enjoy woodworking and do have some knowledge. Are you interested in building a rack, bondage chair or cross perhaps? Or are you looking to create something new?

I'm probably going to get flak from somebody about directing you to the-BDSM-site-that-shall-not-be-named, but, fuck it, I do know someone there who can help you. Get in touch with Shibari_Warrior. He has built his own equipment for years and is almost self-supporting doing so. He would know enough to help you.

Thanks or the reply... the equipment I have in mind would be for club use or maybe used in photo shoots. The equipment would for available for the individual but kinda pricey. Think of a vertical bondage rack where the sub/slave would be restrained, but the rack would be circular and mounted to the outside frame in a manner so that the rack itself would rotate 360 degrees in either the vertical or horizontal inside the outside frame. The entire piece would be made from different types of hardwoods with old school joinery. Mortise-n-tenon with bras pins, knee bracing, that type of construction. I am thinking built in power plugs for various toys n such, recessed lighting in the frame, attachment points built in and adjustable for individual requirements. I know there is a market for this type of equipment. Whats needed is someone to collaborate with who has the resources needed to advance my designs. And being relatively new to this lifestyle and not knowing where to go for help, I thought I might try my luck here.

Considering where you live, I'd take a different approach. There are two kink clubs that are right in town and another kink club that's roughly an hour away. All three have some amazing dungeon furniture that was all made by people in the area. If you are willing to go to BDSM clubs, you've got a fabulous resource. Talk to the folks on staff. They can tell you who made each piece. Maybe even give you a chance to trade tips if you happen to go on the same night as the folks who built various items. If not, you can at least get some references.

You find the best stuff on Fetish sites...

If you're mainly looking for technical inspiration, there are also good ol' New Yankee Workshop episodes. Most of the older seasons are on YTube; I think it even has its own official channel there. I'm sure plenty of the projects on the show could be tweaked for better use.
