I haven't read this entire thread.
I know semantics do matter to me.
Wording does make a difference. I'm glad to do something a certain way if it's important to someone else and it doesn't mean much to me.
It's definitely about approach though. I'm going to have a different reaction to "hey your doing this wrong" vs. "hey I like this done a certain way, please" so wrong vs. not right does make a difference in the reaction one would get from me.

I always let the knives drip dry while I finish the rest of the dishes. Because I don't want the block to grow mold.

The Man thinks you should put forks in the dishwasher, tine side down so you don't prick yourself when you empty it. I think they should go in tines up because the tines get stuck too often otherwise.

We have agreed to disagree.

Modern dishwashers can accept unrinsed plates. But I'm not on town septic and I don't like the idea of food particles in the septic tank. I've redone the leach field once, and had to dig up the bottom half twice when artesian springs suddenly developed and you need to add catch basins and pipes to get the water to run down hill. I've had to dig up the septic tank twice and that's enough.

If you rinse your dishes in the sink...won't it go to the same septic tank?

This whole tang haft knife thing...I need pictures and arrows. I tried to find definitions online. I even found a site called knives 101. But it didn't have pictures. I still don't know what a haft is. I kinda have a better idea of what a tang is. (It's the beverage of the astronaut John Glenn! Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;). But I'm still puzzled.

In our kitchen tonight:

Awareness: Put the dishes on the counter - don't pile them in the sink.

Me: But I'm going to wash them right away.

Awareness: No, you leave them there all the time. Stack them on the counter.

Me: But I need the counterspace to cook!

Awareness: Stack them on the counter. When you leave them in the sink, you get grease all over the sink.

Me: But I'm going to have to take them right back off of the counter again to wash them.

Awareness: Kaliko, (okay, he didn't say "Kaliko," but you know what I mean) I've told you this a number of times now. Are you being deliberately disobedient?

Me: (Gasp!) You read that thread!!

Awareness: What the fuck are you talking about?

And so we have it that the BDSM thread that finally enters our evening conversation is the one about washing dishes. Because we're so fucking kinky. And I stacked the damn dishes.

Heh. This sounds like our conversations.

I hate having things on the counter. I do sometimes leave dishes in the sink. Ok, more than sometimes. Out of sight.
Making me put them on the counter is a sure way to get me to do the dishes right away.
I get the grease thing, though. I rinse off and pre clean dishes before putting them in the sink, and they have to be in the left sink. The right sink should be free of dishes. Nobody else in my house understands how logical this is.

If I can just dump dirty plates with all the gunk into a dishwasher, I might consider getting one!

Mine does that. I've got a garbage disposal built in, so it chops up all the little food bits so they can go down the drain.
It also has a sensor that can tell how dirty the dishes are, and so it will clean until they're completely clean, no more, no less.
Sometimes it's done in 40 minutes, sometimes it takes a few hours, depending on how clean the dishes are when going in.
I've got separate jets in the back for extra dirty pots and pans, so unless the bottom is really burned, it gets those extra clean too (although you have to put them in backwards, which is weird in the beginning).

I never do dishes, I never rinse anything. About the only thing I do is dump left over food off the plate, and I don't really need to do that either, the dishwasher could take care of it if I didn't. I just don't like letting it, because it would take too long (because of the sensor) and wastes too much water (although this thing is super high energy efficient too, and uses far less water than my previous dishwasher, or hand-washing, because it's got some fancy filter and pump or something and cleans, and reuses its own water).

Most expensive appliance I've ever bought, but I love my dishwasher... I hate doing dishes.
In fact, I hate doing dishes so much that I don't buy kitchen gear/plates/pans unless they're dishwasher safe. I turned down an antique set of silverware my grandmother would have left me, because it couldn't go in the dishwasher. My sister, who happily babies it, has it instead.

Wow! What brand is it! How much does something like that cost?

I got something very similar to this one, though mine is older, so it's a different model: http://www.sears.com/kenmore-elite-24inch-built-in-dishwasher-stainless-steel/p-02212793000P?rrec=true
It's Sear's house brand, so you probably won't be able to get them there, but all the major brands have equivalent stuff now. It costs about twice the price of an ordinary one, but it's worth every penny -for me at least.
I got it cause I needed something that was quiet, because my husband's office is under the kitchen, and the old one was so loud that I couldn't run it during his conference calls, and it is quiet indeed... you can't hear when it's running. Not even with your ear on the counter top. The only way to tell if it's on or not is by the lights.

I've had it for 2 years now. In that time I've twice hand washed dishes because I burned something in a pot and it didn't came out with all the burned spots off (though most of it was gone, and I might have been able to get it all off by running it through twice). I cleaned the filter 4 times by rinsing it off, and that's the only thing I've ever rinsed in that entire time. I'm never buying a cheaper dishwasher ever again.

The one in your link doesn't exactly say it shreds food, but this is the one that you can just dump the plates in with all the gunk right?

Looks like I should start taking a look on dishwasher that shreds food in my stores around here.

Like I said, mine isn't exactly the same. Older model. But yeah, with mine, you don't have to take any food off if you don't want. Barring chicken bones and the like.

Look for one that advertises that it's got a built in garbage disposal.

I get the whole Not right / Wrong thingie. I have even before I heard about BDSM or D/s. To me, in MY head, it just makes sense from the get-go. I have never deliberately disobeyed, it's just not who I am. If I'm "NOT RIGHT" about something, correct me please, it was a mistake. I learn from them as long as I'm taught to do it the right way.

If a Dom is looking for someone to look after his household within a 24/7, I can do that. If we're dating, I can accommodate that too. I'm so easy going it isn't even funny. This is much to my detriment.

No, because I scrape stuff into the garbage and I keep the sink strainer in to catch what didn't get scraped.

But I also can't visualize what ET means about the tang. To me, the tang is the metal end of the knife that's covered by the handle.

I don't really see a distinction between "wrong" and "not right," but someone can absolutely be wrong for me, not right for me, or just plain incompatible with me. That doesn't mean they're objectively doing things wrong, not right, or incorrectly. I'm very amenable to adjusting things to suit my Sir, and will obey if possible.
