It depends on the pain. Thud almost always feels good, sting is painful if I'm not warmed up enough. Sting from singletails tends to feel quite different from other stingy impact play, and I still enjoy it even if I'm in tears.

I never said that endorphin caused compulsive obedience. it shuts down that part of your brain that makes you a rational being.

So basically, what I want to know is...

1. Do subs feel pleasure-pleasure, as in like, the pleasure of having an orgasm, or the pleasure of eating an ice-cream, when they're in pain?

Or...

2. Is it more of a psychological pleasure, like "Look at how much I'm suffering for X!"?

3. Can you describe what you're feeling or going through, when your dominant has sex with you, or plays a scene etc, but in a way that you would be in pain?

Speaking from my own experience, I would say yes.

Remember that pleasure and pain are simply the brain's interpretation of neurological stimulus, and that interpretation is heavily influenced by our brain chemistry in the moment, and our mood and consciousness.

When pain becomes pleasure, the best way I can describe it is as a NEED. something you crave and need to feel.

I liken it to the berries from the plant Synsepalum dulcificum, that when eaten make bitter or sour flavours taste sweet instead... there's chemistry going on that changes your interpretation of the experience.

His phrasing may have been a bit off. Endorphins can create euphoria, and in euphoric states, people's judgement can be effected... perhaps making them more compliant, but in other people perhaps making them less so?

I agree though that they are not shutting down a part of your brain that makes you rational. That's nonsense, as were a bunch of the other points.

More willing to comply on stuff you already want to do but feel inhibited about? Sure. It's like being drunk in that regard (and lord knows people do stupid shit they end up regretting when they're drunk).

Obedient to the point of being unable to refuse compliance and acting like a truth serum making you unable to remember what you did? Not by a long shot.

I have never verified it myself but from what I'm told endorphin acts as a truth serum because of the altered mind state and that's why you don't remember the things you did or said. it can also work as a hypnotic drug. with enough endorphin in the body you simply can't refuse to do as you are told.

Yes... exactly. And I agree... his other claims had no basis in fact either.

And maybe a little more willing to comply on suggestions you'd never thought of before too... as you say. Like being high :) Endorphins - and weed - are FUN!

Can is a big fat "Of course" because you're basically asking about every possible person and every possible scene. But 'Do' subs... Let's just say I have no trouble avoiding smacking my thumb with a hammer. And I jump around enthusiastically after kicking the unexpected thing in the dark. So that would seem to be a solid, 'No".

But. With the right person, doing the right things, in the right place and time and possibly company, then things can work out a little differently.
