thats what you think, the overwhelming number of American citizens think birth control is on the list.

Most people would say overwhelming is 9 or 10-1. Overwhelming odds. You seem to have a more flexible definition. 2-1, for example. And I doubt the number is that high.

That's kinda chilling there, Butch.

I think there would be little argument that birth control is necessary in countries that cannot feed their people...There should be no politically correct over this issue.

Butch

ummm... a good education gives girls/women in these developing countries better prospects for earning more so they can support their family in addition to also lowering the number of babies they do have.. its a 2 prong solution which is imo much better than just give them birth control.. they will get/use birth control on their own if they stay in school.. the trend is for the population to double by 2050 otherwise.. just sayin'

"'Educate girls to stop population soaring'
The longer girls stay at school, the fewer children they have, professor says

The explosive growth in the global population could be curbed significantly if teenage girls in the developing world were given the opportunity of completing a secondary school education, says a leading expert in human numbers.

Putting girls in developing countries through secondary school is one of the single most important factors that causes them to have fewer babies in later life, said Joel Cohen, professor of populations at the Rockefeller University in New York. That could cut the expected growth in the human population by as much as three billion by 2050. The present global population is 6.7 billion but would rise to as much as 11.9 billion by then if current trends continue. "Secondary education increases people's capacity and motivation to reduce their own fertility, improve the survival of their children and care for their own and the families' health," Professor Cohen said.

"Education promotes a shift from the quantity of children in favour of the quality of children. This transition reduces the future number of people using environmental resources and enhances the capacity of individuals and societies to cope with environmental change.""

nobody gives a fuckin rats ass about your doubts. you are a well known innumerate, and its on the books, and the nutsuckers have tried to get it off something like 60 times now, and wouldn't you call that and overwhelming number of failures?

An overwhelming number of Americans would.

tj if you read the link I provided you would see where programs are included to encourage local food production. No huge program like this is problem free but no one has come up with something better. With all its faults it is the generosity of the American people through their taxes that feed much of the hungry world. They deserve more than ridicule for their sacrifices.

Butch

ridicule? I disagree with the US strings-attached "free" food aid they give but I am not ridiculing you/anyone cuz your govt does that.. right now bill gates is using his money & influence to push GMOs into these countries and I definitely disagree strongly with that..

A ridiculolous amount of political grandstanding does not constitute overwhelming numbers of people believing the US government has the obligation to provide you birth control.

Well, true of Voter ID anti-abortionists, religious law, and so on. but birth control? Yeah, there aint any political grandstanding there.

The political grandstanding is carried out by nutsuckers in their aiport bathroom felching cauuses. It is not overwhelmig, they have a face full of some welfare patient reverends ass and they spew family values, religious liberty.

Well, what that means is that when the woman down at the DMV or Registrar wont give you a license because you ain't wearing a hijab, you better back the fuck out of it, because it aint reliious liberty its 'xtian' privilege being legislated if you don't..

I'd a hell of a lot rather give out birth control (or make it mandatory for some) than pay for their fucking brats.

2:1 would be the correct way to annotate that, and that is what we call, a supermajority. It overwhelms in this country.

Then your knowledge of english is as good as your knowledge of science. Some bills pass with overwhelming majorities. The vote for WWII for example. 2:1 is not overwhelming.

English not english.

an act or instance of flowing or heaping up abundantly; a surge.

51% will whelm the election of a senator. 60% will overwhelm a president. 61 or more repeals of ACA has been underwhelming. Do not lecture me in the English language you naif.

Is it a country's responsibility to feed its inhabitants or is it the inhabitants' responsibility to feed themselves? Who determines food production? Who determines whether or not the citizens are properly fed? Who distributes the required birth control? Who ensures the slaves (because they can no longer be considered citizens) are obeying their government?

Do the people have any say in this totalitarian dictatorship you are proposing, Butch Jong Un?

Which is exactly why there is a government. And you can call them slaves, thats an extreme, or you gan let people do whatever the fuck they want in the name of freedom (however they define it) and thats an extreme, and neither work. You can enslave them, and you get a revolt. you can let them do what they want, and then you put up with tribal warfare and caliphates or kingdoms.

Yea... lets just let people starve while they beg for donations... We have the resources, the moral obligation, and we are the only nation able or willing to do it.

Butch

Again, you are free to donate to as many charities as you want but don't forcibly take money from me in order to do so.

So you think making birth control drugs and devices available to the poor is elitist... I think it is wise... of course there is nothing wrong with encouraging the religious right to keep their cocks zipped up in their pants... all for it.

Butch

Except when it comes to actually promoting abstinence programs. Then I surmise you're against it.

I am for anything that works and that includes abstinence... just curious...now be honest... do you or did you always practice abstinence?

If charity were to be enough there would be no world hunger it never has been enough nor will be... so what do you propose... let them starve?

Myself as a fiscal conservative and Christian I am glad to provide to charity and my tax dollar to alleviate hunger as long as it is needed.

I chose not to have sex till I was 24, until a point I could afford a child if one were to happen. While rhythmn methods are not fool proof, I have never caused an unwanted pregnancy.

If charity is compelled, it is no longer charity.
Personally, I have sponsored a child in colombia, I have sponsored children in Haiti. I believe in charity, and believe it is a moral imperative. My objection is to government assuming that role - or any role - when they are demonstrably poor at it.

How's that rebuilding effort in Haiti going - I mean other than enriching Bill Clinton. Or the war on poverty. We any closer to winning that, or are we, in fact losing? Or our grain aid to egypt - where we bankrupted millions of egyptian farmers inadvertently..

You are free to donate your money but don't force others to do the same. Clearly not everyone shares your priorities if charity is not enough.
