The only thing that I agree with among your detractors is that sex games do not equal submissiveness. But you never said nor implied any such thing, so what the hell? True submissiveness doesn't preclude sex games, as the BDSM police would seem to imply. They're not a foundation on which to build a relationship, but they can certainly be a tool to enhance one.
So now, for an actual response to your question:
(I'll be using pronouns where the sub is male and the Domme is female.)
The way that I'm reading the question can be dangerous. If the sub is coming up with the challenges, there is a real danger of topping from the bottom. Subs could safely have some input into the process (e.g., suggestions or fleshing out), but beyond that seems risky to me. (Note that I said "to me" -- no universal declaration.)
That said, I can cite some dares/challenges that I have been given in the past. I had one LD Domme who used to occasionally send me on (what she called) scavenger hunts: several tasks in a row that she would give. I would tell her, "I have X hours free" and I never knew how long the hunt would be nor what task was next. Many (but not all) tasks were out and about. Each task would require some level of proof.
* I had to go to a mattress store and find a sales rep (bonus if it was a female). Had to tell the rep that my girlfriend and I had worn out our previous mattress because of rigorous sex. Bonus points if I tried out some mattresses with simulated motions. (Sadly, I didn't get to do this one. Got called in to work just before.)
* I had some white compression shorts (like bicycle shorts, only tighter and a bit more translucent) and a matching shirt. I had to go through a drive-thru in them. Did that a few times. I got some knowing smiles and stares.
* Variation: Went through a drive-thru wearing only a dress shirt. Everything was covered, but just barely.
* I had to do some outdoor work around the house (washing outside of windows or trimming bushes) in the compression shorts.
* Receive pizza deliveries wrapped in a towel, as though I had just come out of the shower. One towel just barely reached all the way around me; I had to hold it in place. Any movement exposed my thigh almost all the way up to my waist. Another towel was long enough to wrap around and tie off (without being held), but was folded over several times such that it barely concealed my naughty bits.
* Some hunts had me in the compression shorts under other clothing. One task involved going through a drive-thru, ordering food, but also asking for a large cup of ice. I had to then go park, unzip my outer shorts, pull open the compression shorts and dump the entire cup of ice inside them.
* In a sense, that was nothing compared to what she called "Thai Soup". This was usually reserved when punishment was necessary, but was a part of a hunt, once. I'd fill a large glass bowl with water and ice, then stick it in the freezer long enough for the water to get even colder, but not freeze. Then I would set it on the floor, strip, and dip Big Al and the Twins into it -- exquisite pain. This was always done on cam so that she could watch. The first time was supposed to be five straight minutes, but I wasn't able to take it, so she had mercy and made it three 2-minute intervals with a break in-between each. After that, I was able to do the full 5. Interestingly, the pain never diminished -- you'd think you'd get used to it and/or go numb from the cold, but no. The one interesting thing, though, was that it always entailed instant shrinkage, but if it went on long enough, I would get hard again.
* Go to a department store and pick out some lingerie. Take it to the dressing room, put it on, and take pictures in the dressing room mirror.
There are a few other challenges that she (and others) gave, however they fall under such a level of forced exhibitionism that they could (if caught) lead to arrest for indecent exposure. I talked about these once before and the moderator nuked the thread and sent me a long-winded note about how I was encouraging illegal behavior and how he could get into legal trouble for hosting it. I wasn't encouraging anything, but I could see how he could get into trouble (seeing as how logic and the legal system have very little overlap). I sent him a sincere apology which he ignored.
