Kn0tY0uRkittY -> Seeking to be a pro -demo Bottom. Where to start? (6/17/2016 12:29:31 PM)

Hey!
I wasn't sure as to the appropriate place where to post this but I know of people that are professional demo bottoms for parties and events and I'd like to start on the journey to becoming one but I'm sure how to go about it. I message presenters for events I'm interested in but they often already have their bottoms.

Hi Knotyourkitty, I don't know how it is in NYC or the U.S. for that matter but over here in the UK, most clubs and private parties have demo bottom volunteers. I did once go as a mistress to a spanking party. It was one of these places where the men had pre-booked and paid a kings ransom to spank the girls and maybe have a little spanking themselves (geez they were wimps!). The girls certainly got paid for that. Is that the sort of thing your thinking about?

I've never heard of that. However, dungeons frequently have pro bottoms on the staff. That said, you may need to switch in your job because there's a lot more demand for pro Tops than bottoms.

I never heard of a pro bottom or pro submissive but at dungeons and other BDSM teachings I have been volunteered by which ever Dominant I was involved with at the time be the "submissive in the class" that was nerve racking but fun.

There are plenty of pro subs who advertise themselves for BDSM photo shoots. Dommes will often take on pro subs at their dungeons. It may be worth getting in touch with a few of your local pro Dommes.

Ummmm... I think we're using different terminology.

"Pro demo bottoms" aren't common in the US. Pro bottoms are usually those folks who book sessions to be paid for people who want to top. They also tend to be the professionals, (meaning they get paid and are NOT volunteers) for modeling shoots, the highlighted person for ventures like 'clips4sales', published authors (and I mean real books, not some e-book crud that goes for $1.99 on the net) who can book paid speaking engagements at cons, (i.e, LadyD, Vi, slavedavid, and other reputable names) and things of that nature.

Most demo bottoms are basically the person who the demo top (aka presenter) is having to be the person they are displaying topping skills on during the presentation. These are situations where the top is displaying techniques about whatever kind of skill they are teaching about. Usually, these are cases where the top is the person who has been invited to present, made arrangements with producers, and unless the top and bottom are promoted together, like classes that are specifically focused on M/s or D/s dynamics, it's really the top who is promoted because it's a class about topping skill. There are classes where the bottom is the headliner, but they tend to be about service, long term slavery, etc. Unless you are a "name," you aren't getting paid.

If it makes you feel better, most demo tops don't get paid, either. Usually, if I present somewhere, like at least 95% of presenters, I'm not getting paid. I'm not Rinella, Midori, or Wiseman. I'm not getting some fat check just for showing up. Most presentations, I do on my own dime. That includes my time, my travel, and my expenses for expendables. In some situations, I get room and board. (Usually a place to sleep at some kinksters house, somewhere.) I get comp'd at the door, so I don't pay for my admission to the event where I will be teaching. I might get dinner paid by the event. Some groups/producers will give you tickets to their next event or give you a gift basket for your stay. These things are nice but I promise they aren't profit.

More often than not, most demo tops provide their own bottom when making the agreement to teach a class. Sometimes, they will do an open cattle call to see who is available locally, but they usually choose people well known to the club. Those emails you are writing? I get twenty of them any time I teach a class. If I can't bring a demo bottom of my own, I go with the person with the longest standing reputation, who is proven reliable to whoever is organizing the event.

I'm sorry to discourage you, but if you think there are bunches of "pro demo bottom" situations out there, I'm going to tell you that's not my experience. Personally, I would never pay a demo bottom for a class I was teaching. They might get my +1 for entry to an event, be invited to stay with me during accommodations, be invited with me to whatever pot luck I'm attending, but if they think they are getting cash, I'd just laugh.

I think LadyPact outlined it well.

Also, you are in a world just chock full of volunteer demo bottoms that already do it for free. When a popular presenter is doing a workshop/demo, there is a huge sign up list of bottoms willing to do it for free.

or you can be in situations like I was I never got paid but because I was usually involved with the Dominant that was doing the presentation or some sort of show, well they told me to do it and I did it. But no I never got paid for it, at the most someone took me out for supper.

I remember when I was part of the club that was on we had people come in from another province, they didn't get paid either but their room and board was paid for, for the weekend.

MizzSpitfire -> RE: Seeking to be a pro -demo Bottom. Where to start? (6/19/2016 3:16:27 PM)

I started out in the lifestyle doing pro bottoming after a generous gentleman made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was at his personal service, however, and not available publicly to others.
Here in the USA, there is almost never a shortage of willing demo bottoms, and I have never seen nor heard about money being exchanged for such.
