Anybody on here any good with Javascript, then?

How would that help??

Many people don't have it installed or enabled and as far as I know, anything Apple doesn't support it.

DesFIP -> RE: How to find kinky people without Fet (7/28/2016 12:42:15 PM)

Bondage.com went to paid membership or you couldn't send emails. Some men paid but women didn't and thus even if they wanted to, couldn't reply. Forum members disappeared and shortly after the switch, they shut their doors for good.

If fet goes to a paid only model, I expect they'll have the same results. I'm not paying to waste time talking online.

I hate Javascript I find any sites that use it, too long to open the sites, I have it on my computer, tried to update it and it won't update because the update is not recognized as safe.

On sites like that, Javascript is probably safe. The newest issue is flash player (mostly the ads) which is no longer supported by Adobe.

Adobe has been developing a new platform for animation/"video". They've had it in their Creative Cloud suite for some time and they are ready to force it on the interwebz as the new "gold standard".

However, there is the other side, too. There are some people who are more affluent who can swing that thirty dollars every six months. I have no idea how many people actually 'support' Fetlife financially but I'm guessing most could if they wanted to.

It's kind of ironic. I can't tell you how many times I've read comments both here and there from people who said they'd gladly donate to the site(s) if they would do things like get rid of the bots, spammers, trolls, troublemakers, etc, etc. If this policy helps to make that happen, or at least reduce it, I wonder how many will follow through with that promise.

I supported Fet when I first signed up, but didn't like the site enough after awhile to continue to pay.

There was a time when I'd gladly have paid to support collarme for the forums, and to clean it up from the socks and trolls. But they didn't clean it up, and it went far downhill and so many fantastic posters left for good, that what's left IMO isn't worth financial support anymore.

On the plus side the quality loss here got me me looking elsewhere and I've enjoyed Reddit. I care more about the forums than the "dating" element though (a side effect from this site's profile side).

I've seen the comments like "just have one less latte a month and pay for membership". That attitude is one I really can't agree with.

I agree. And further, it may just be a matter of budgeting rather than affordability. I may have $30 a month budgeted for online memberships and $30 a month budgeted for lattes. (Yes, indeed, I used to have a "Starbucks" line in my budget.) If I already have $30 worth of online memberships but I still have $10 left in my line for lattes, then I'll happily take a sip and tell you I can't afford a Fetlife membership because, adhering to my budget, I cannot.

Lattes take it over Fetlife, anyway. Every. Time.

Gaah....I've only recently started on Reddit and I am really, really hating the interface. And what's up with not being able to post an avatar of me with no top on?

Seriously though, I feel like I can't get to "know" people because their names are so tiny and there's no avatar or anything, so I skim right over who they are. It forces me to judge their posts on the quality of their content and their relation to the topic. Yawn.

oh great more technology

I think that when it was first created, it was so small it didn't need a search feature, and then later when membership took off, they didn't know how to implement a search feature properly... and so the fiction that it was never intended as a dating site was born.

They may have originally intended that, but a first year coder could have put ASL search, or something like it, into place.

They have chosen, specifically and repeatedly, not to.

Maybe... but a first year coder could easily fix their multiple post bug too... but they seem uninterested in doing that. Surely it's not on some principle that they refuse to fix that???

I know, awful! But you eventually adjust to it [:D]

OK, folks. I get it. "The sky is falling... The sky is falling," and "Dear God, what will newbs do without open access to Fet"? One stop shopping just got taken away. Where, oh where, are people interested in kink going to go now???

People hate it when I say this, but the old methods still work. Being one of the people who got into this before I ever had a screen name, I have some tips for you.

To start, google is your friend!!! <Major city closest to you> + BDSM will show you where the events are. Every major event still runs it's own, independent webpage.

Books. Yeah, the old fashioned kind with words printed on pages. Every book ever published by Greenery Press still has "about the author" in the back. In "Screw the Roses, (Send Me the Thorns) alone, there are over a hundred references about real time groups.

Go to the flipping gay/alternative bar and/or drag queen-king show. Look for the bulliton board. The fliers about where kinky people meet are there!

Connect with your local LGBT community. Go to events like Pride. It is so easy to find kinky people there.

Vendors. You saw that shiny, new toy on the net? Ask them where they will be setting up shop. They will *tell you* where to find the kinky folks.

ANYBODY who has been into kink for more than ten years can tell you how to do this. The world didn't stop turning just because Fet isn't accepting new members.

Do we really need a lecture or advice on how to find kinky people offline? I think not unless there is a novice reading the thread?

Lucylastic -> RE: How to find kinky people without Fet (7/29/2016 3:43:29 AM)

only you.

It is always a good thing when someone can sum up solipsism in a single sentence. [sm=yourock.gif]

oh no another one of WD's identity's? the other chattel dude?

Lucylastic -> RE: How to find kinky people without Fet (7/29/2016 4:38:19 AM)

Personally I dont believe that the chattel suck poppet has anything to do with WD.
Totally different styles.
but I could also be wrong

LilJuly76 -> RE: How to find kinky people without Fet (7/29/2016 4:57:17 AM)

I have no clue I'm just taking a guess. He seems to have different accounts and I can't keep up with them.

Lucylastic -> RE: How to find kinky people without Fet (7/29/2016 4:59:33 AM)

I have them both on hide and hide them when I recognize the pattern.
so much better that way.
