I hope linking to an offsite game is acceptable? Particularly if it's a very funny one?

So I've never played Cards Against Humanity, but this image-matching game calls itself "Cards Against Humanity using pictures". It's not exactly an adult game, but some of the randomised pictures are a bit on the mature side. The purpose is to make the best match for the current image using a picture file from your 'hand'. Depending on the players' hands, some matches can be absolutely hilarious.

Pomme.us

It takes at least three players to make the game work like it's supposed to, a lot like any group card game. The server has its busy times and its dead times.

Lately the default room, "bigapple", gets glitchy sometimes (usually it's the timer, ending your turn too fast), but an easy way around that is to alter your URL to move the game to a different room. Just type another fruit, for example, peach, banana, or cherry, where bigapple is in the address.

A game goes on until one player has won ten points, or stops if all but one player logs out.

Actually, it is against the Terms of Service you agreed to when you joined up.

Particularly -
7.3.12. You will not use Your profile or any other portion of the Website or Our services to promote any other business enterprise, unless otherwise permitted by collarspace.com

So unless you have specific written permission to promote this other website, it's not allowed.

Dwarf, stop being such a tard. It's not their game, and simply sharing a link to a site you enjoy is perfectly within the rules here.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 12:00:35 PM)

Not according to the ToS it ain't.

Hasn't it been plenty enough that people aren't sticking to the rules??
Especially after the recent fuckturd sock episodes??

What's the point in having rules if we only apply those that we selectively decide to abide by?

stef -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 12:14:04 PM)

There's a world of difference between some clueless sockpuppet spamming the forum and someone sharing a link to a free game site in a game forum.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 12:32:08 PM)

I agree.
But where do you draw the line. Huh??

It's fine for members to post about pedo's and shit which is also against the rules?
You would be one of the first to report a post for it.
You certainly jump on gold-diggers in the intro section quite often.
So everything is A-Ok unless you happen not to like it??

Rules are there for a reason whether we like them or not.
We all agree to abide by them when we sign up and join the site.

Who gets to decide how far past the line we can push??
It shouldn't be up to members to allow or disallow which rules we follow; it is clearly written in the ToS.
If they change the ToS, then fair enough.
But until they do, every member should help to enforce the rules as they are written and published.

We don't draw the line, the faceless overlords do.

If you don't see a difference between the parasites in the intro forum and this thread, you're even more vacuous than I had previously thought.

The difference is irrelevant.

The ToS starts by saying that you agree to abide by all the rules or you should leave the site (section 1.5).
It goes on to say that you are only allowed to do what is specifically allowed by the ToS.
Promoting other sites other than with express permission (namely 7.3.12.) is forbidden.

It's simple rules stef.
There are many rules that I don't agree with.
It says: "All Materials displayed on the Website are protected by the First Amendment rights to Free Speech, Free Expression, Freedom of Association and Freedom of the Press, and parallel provisions of state constitutions."
And then goes on to specify many things we aren't allowed to show, say or speak about.
Hypocritical or what??

The faceless overlords have stated the rules and we should abide by them or leave the site.
It really is as simple as that.

LadyPact -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 1:23:18 PM)

A weird question. Is it because of the link?

I'm just curious because, we've had threads on Wow in the past. Who plays? Anybody on this server or that server? Who will be buying this expansion, etc, etc. Do you play on Alliance or Horde? That kind of thing.

Were those threads ok because there was no link to the actual game? Is there a difference between a free game and one you have to actually buy?

Freedomdwarf, to put your mind at ease, Pomme is not a "business enterprise" as specifically mentioned in the ToS. It is a free-to-play time waster and does not even utilise a profile registration system. No business is done on that site, and it has no conflict of interest with CS.

It's basically a chatroom with an embedded flash game.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 2:14:20 PM)

FR~

Under section 3.1 it states: The Website is dedicated to assisting like-minded individuals locate, and communicate with, each other.
Section 4.3 states: You may not use the Website to advertise products or services, nor may You use the Website in order to solicit products or services, unless otherwise permitted by collarchat.com.
Section 7.1 states: You agree that You will only use the Website for purposes expressly permitted and contemplated by this Agreement. You may not use the Website for any other purposes without Our express prior written consent.

These 3 sections depict that if a link to outside sources that conflict with the purpose of CS, it is expressly not allowed.
The fact that the game site is also a chat site, that is a direct conflict with CS's ToS.
Also note that "chat" is considered a 'service' even though it is provided free of charge; there are many references to CS's 'service' for communications scattered throughout the ToS.
Note that 3.1 specifically states that the website is "dedicated to" rather than "facilitates", which further enforces section 7.1.

Yeah, I know it's nit-picking but it's there in black & white for all to see.

MedfetAB -> RE: Pomme Game (like Cards Against Humanity) (8/8/2016 2:48:03 PM)

Not to nitpick either, but Pomme does not have its own ToS for the very fact that it does not, by standard internet definition, provide a service. Conversely, CollarSpace has a ToS because it enters into a service contract with users. If CS banned all forms of external communication sharing, it wouldn't allow us to include e-mail and IM information in places like our forum profiles - which it does allow if you go to the top of the Forum page and click 'my profile'.

Let's call it settled, and if the mods decide otherwise it's their call.
