Well, since the judge gave my sister custody yesterday, and he came home just after 6pm last evening, events and activities have been far from the ordered regimen that I prefer.

To start, I forgot just how much a 4 year old needs to take a bath (what possible use could he have with four rubber ducks?)

Next, it seems that I am way out of touch with fashion. Where I would think that a spider man pj shirt should go with spider man pj bottoms, it turns out that it actually goes with Thor bottoms.

(socks are an equally baffling mystery.)

A glass of slightly warm strawberry milk is the prerequisite drink before bed time, and not to be served less than one hour from head contact with pillow (poppop, I do not want to have to get up after going to bed to go to the bathroom!)

The only way I could get him to crash was to put on one of his favorite movies and let him watch it on my bed, which brings up its own challenges.

Now, a four year old is not that heavy, unless there is a 100 pound wolf hybrid using her head and size 96 paws to keep you from picking him up to move him to his bed.

This of course is while the other dogs are trying to prevent you from moving their boy.

Flash forward to 0615.

0615 start coffee
0617 open back door to let dogs out.
0618 knock on sister's door to get her up
0620 start mixing pancake batter
0630 Wake up four year old.
0631 Conversation goes:
Me: Munch time to get up for school
Munch: Munch is not here.
Me: Okay where is munch?
Munch: Fishing
Me (raised eyebrow): Munch get up, you need to get ready for school.
Munch: FINE.
0635: From bedroom
Munch: Blu wont let me get up
Upon investigation discover that the blu is restraining his boy by wrapping himself with the boy's arms.
Me: your pancakes are ready
At this point I have to say, there is proof that the speed of light is not finite, a four year old going to the table for pancakes with warm cherries over them will break that barrier... and knock you down in the process

Mental note: do not stand in door to announce breakfast is ready.

Now, getting a four year old dressed for school.

First, Wednesday is orange (never knew days had colors) so orange shirt and blue jeans is what is worn.
Second, socks do not have to match anymore (then why do they sell them in matching pairs?)
Third, when in doubt, sandals are acceptable.

School departure

Well, considering that "their boy" has been gone for 7 months, three dogs were not going to let him out of the house, but after the gauntlet was passed, sis had him off to meet his bus.

Of course, since this is due to an on going cps case, I have just recieved a call from sister explaining that at somepoint this morning, I have to go to his school with my id and sign a bunch of forms that will allow me to drop him off and pick him up should the need arise.

I also already had a phone call from cps caseworker informing me that she will be by this morning with the firearm's instructor from the local sheriff's office to make sure that my weapons storage is adequate.

Like a solid steel gun safe with a combination and two key locks is going to be easy for a 4 year old to open.

Oh, did I forget to mention that in my part time work at a local range I double as a tactical firing instructor for local law enforcement agencies?

Glad he's back home.

So what did you make him for dinner, hot dogs and mac and cheese?

Dinner tonight was basically a variation of SoS, browned ground beef in a beef stock gravy over rice, with green beans for a veggie.

What he wanted was poppop army breakfast, which of course is SOS with eggs, biscuits, fried taters, and salsa.

I explained that due to all the running we had to do today, that no one had time to shop for the stuff to make enough for everyone.

That satisfied him, since we did have salsa, his condiment of choice for everything (with few exceptions) although for desert he did request I deep fry twinkies.

I did not deep fry anything tonight, too dang tired.

The little scoundrel did not know that poppop got up about every 30 minutes or so to actually check on him through the night. He has been gone for so long, I actually had to look in on him to make sure he was actually here.

There are some other matters pertaining to the case that I have taken care of, or been made aware of since yesterday.

1) The local state rep has contacted the Commissioner for Child Protective Services, and we can expect a call from their office some time in the next couple of days.
Her assistant told me that the rep has some of her staff looking for a lawyer that will take the case pro bono in Federal Court, and that she had been instructed to pass that information on to the Commissioners office.

This was after I called this morning to update them on what the hell was said and going on.

2) A local reporter contacted me (actually trying to reach my sister) asking about some things he was told were said in court, which I verified he had heard correctly.

3) A reporter (the same reporter that broke the news about a CPS investigator that did not properly investigate a complaint which resulted in the death of a child) also contacted us about the hearing and what was said.

Again I confirmed what she was told.

4) the local CPS director who had been forced to reapply for her job due to changes in the procedures was not approved and removed from her position, actually suspended pending further action.

This happened after a few people from Austin showed up at 8, and while I was making phone calls to the various people who have taken intense interest in activities of the local cps office as well as this case in particular.

As of 5pm, three regional directors in the state have been fired, suspended or replaced, over a hundred investigators have been suspended, a number of case workers have been suspended, and criminal charges are being sought in some of the cases.

5) When my sister went to set up the contact paperwork at munch's school, she was informed that since we lived outside the city limits, there was no way he could stay in the school and would have to be transferred to our local school district.

And CPS has no say in the matter.

It has to do with the fact that we live 11 miles from his bus stop.

So, we called caseworker, left a voice mail, and sis did what she was told to do by the school administrator. Caseworker left her a voice mail telling her in no uncertain terms that she is to transfer munch. She would tell the school what to do etc.

Now when cps worker showed up with the deputy to check my weapons storage, he walked in, sat down and drank coffee with me, and asked when I would be available to drill some of the potential swat members on sniper techniques.

Caseworker asked if he was going to inspect my storage arrangement.

He looked at her and told her, "Ma'am this guy is so careful with weapons that IF someone were to break in, it would take him a good 3 minutes to get a gun. I dont have to look."

Then grinned and added, "Besides, we had him check the weapon storage procedures at the jail when we figured we needed to make some changes."

His final statement to her, "I am going to get in trouble for this, but lady, quit being a bitch."

We went back to talking while she sat at the table and fumed/pouted.

Of course, I had already had something planned for her, because she informed us that we had to have anyone that may be around Damian cleared by cps to visit.

I gave her 4 pages of friends that I said plan to try and visit in the next few months. Many of them are old army buddies and former coworkers and all active in jobs that require high security clearances.

Damian home sick today, slight fever, stuffy nose, sore throat.

Otherwise he is fine, however, due to the paranoia of the schools, any temp 1 degree or higher they do not want them in school.

The boy has a slight cold, could even be a bit of seasonal allergies, and the slight temp could be simply a normal variation in body temp which WE all experience.

Well, all of us except for a certain well loved (we have to love her, she has repeatedly said we would die if we didnt) domme on this website who claims to be a cold bitch most of the time.

Munch was diagnosed late yesterday with a double ear infection (why they cant just say he has an ear infection in both ears i have no clue.)

Now, I have been informed that dinner tonight will be home made pizzas. It seems that the munchmonster has learned a new skill, kneading pizza dough in particular.

Now, we have had one incident, Kera (my wolf hybrid) while she sleeps with me, she is also very protective of the munchmonster. Yesterday she tried to get out of a closed window to get to someone who she thought was going to take munch. In the process the window was broke.

This was the ONLY window in the home that was not changed to lexan poly-carbonate when I had the other windows done after a major storm because it was the ONLY window not broken by hail.
