Dommale1959 -> Master (9/12/2016 11:19:04 AM)

I was told by a female slave that a Master can not call himself a Master if he does not own a slave, but i have owned one in the past for 28 years, so what am i.

You can call yourself anything you want.

Plenty of dom guys without subs refer to themselves as master. Whether I think it is silly or not doesn't really matter.

But... I think you see the point that the sub was making. . Why not refer to yourself as a dominant guy?

Yeah, but don't expect everyone else to call you "Master", but I think it's perfectly acceptable to say, "I'm a Master looking for..." in your profile.

But, I will say that when I was single I bypassed anyone who used it as part of their name. "Hi, I'm Master Tony" type things went automatically in the trash.

thanks for clearing that up for me

Bob or Jeff or John or whatever your name is. That's who you are.
What you are hopefully, is human.

If not, lets have a few bars of "Starman," eh?

You're asking a bunch of strangers whether you need to take direction from a female slave. What's Masterly about that?

They can't even figure out something as simple as where to post in the forums, never mind how to be a dominant.

LilJuly76 -> RE: Master (9/13/2016 4:24:58 PM)

If you had to ask after 28 years, you aren't.

Although I tend to claim the title of GTFOwtfUBURawesomesausePWNotherDOMZnTEHfaiceWTFbbqDOMLYdomOVtehWURLD. By the way, that is copyrighted.

Mind if I take a stab at this one?

Let me guess. You ran across an s-type who has the chip on their shoulder about the differences on how people view this depending on which side of the kneel they happen to be on?

I'm going to tell you make has me saying that.

In a lot of M/s, some folks tend to see the two sides of the slash differently. The "M" side tends to be based on experience level. 'You did X, Y, Z in the past, meaning you are still qualified to do X, Y, Z and you will probably be able to conduct X, Y, Z tomorrow.' Yep. Even if person A was in your life and you will have different things that you will have to adjust for if person B enters your life tomorrow, you're still the person who is running your house, your dynamics, and all of that good stuff.

On the other hand, the "s" side tends to be based on current status. You might have been a slave for twenty years. (Experience level.) However, that gets seen differently due to the status of "are you free today". That current status matters more to a lot of people rather than past experience, how you "feel" about a label, or what you picked from the drop down menu. It generally comes down to who is charge of your life today.

There are some folks on the right side of the slash (meaning the s-type) who absolutely *hate* this. They want it to be seen equally, but to some people, it's just not. It's really tough to convince folks that you are a slave when you are making the majority of your own decisions and not actually under another person's authority. It can be difficult to escape the logic of that, even when we play around with words in a kink context, such as free and slave.
