In the past two weeks I have been contacted by two (I'm hoping different people- if not- then it's creepier) guys I chatted with online but never actually met. One texted me- looking to see how life was now- 8 years after our last conversation. The other found me on fetlife and said "hey I think we talked a lifetime ago- either way you're a smoke show!" And after asking him what he meant- I chatted with him a decade ago!

Is this just a weird thing that's happening? Or is it maybe the same person (and has been for years, like literally a decade of this)? Just so creepy to me it happening back to back like this. i just hope no one turns up at my doorstep to skin me anytime soon. But for real- am I paranoid? Or is this creepy?

I think I would be concerned if the conversations become invasive, otherwise, I think you're probably fine.

I recently stumbled across an old boyfriend from over 20 years ago. He's the VP of a company for which I was putting together a bid. I'm sure he thought I was a stalker when he got the email until I explained that I was sending a reply to an RFP.

What Oside said.

Now, just because I can, and she threatened to punch anyone who said it in the throat....

That's a lot of bike

It's going to happen every so often surely.

You only notice the coincidence because it doesn't happen that often, but if you think of all the people you have randomly met over the years, it would be strange if you didn't "bump" into one or two of them occasionally.

Same rules as any non-continuous friend or acquaintance contacting you or vice-versa. There's only something wrong with it if it becomes a bit stalkery. Someone saying hi, being respectful then reading the cues in how you respond more or less correctly isn't any more of a problem than any other random communication.

I get why it might seem a bit creepy, especially if you think it might be people you want to actively avoid.

I can think of a few people I would rather not contact me, but on the other hand my curiosity would probably trump any sense of suspicion I might have.

This.
It's like it says in Ecclesiastes: "to everything there is a season". If it's the season for people you haven't spoken to in years to try to get back in touch, then that can happen.

8 years is a very long time for a stalker to wait.. It's probably just sincere curiosity.
