Most of those I've met that are like this tend to be very shallow and extremely self-centred people. My daughter is a carer to such a person. If she's not there pandering to his every thought, he goes into extreme self-pity mode and even self harms to the point of needing hospital treatment. Affection defecit?? I don't know. I wouldn't call it that. Whether OP is such a person we'll never really know. But I'll guarantte they are a drama queen at least. Generally, these sort of people aren't nice to know.
