So today I had the surprise of finding I had a new message.

Obviously some fake who did not even read my profile, asking me to email and offering very generic and unspecific things.

The real gem however was this phrase on her profile: "I understand the nature to discipline very well - because I am of the generation where misconduct at school was dealt with by the cane or slipper . "

The profile was for a 26 years old.

Maybe she went to a Catholic school.

Or not.

Perhaps she really is 26 - and then some.

I , for example, am 28. I really am! and a few more years as well

FR

This thread brings to mind a birthday card I saw in a shop decades ago. I now dearly wish I'd bought the entire stock.

Cover: Happy 29th Birthday!

Inside: Isn't the metric system wonderful?

It probably packs a special punch for Americans who lived through the abortive let's-go-metric effort of the seventies.

At some point, about 40, I told my then young daughter that I was 26. The next year I announced that I was 26 again.
When she responded that I couldn't be, I retorted that since I wasn't growing any taller, I didn't have to grow older either.

She bought it then but by the third time it didn't work.

Was it Oliver Wendell Holmes who, upon seeing a pretty girl walk by, sighed and said "Ah, to be 80 again"?

The only reason I use imperial is because all those role-playing games do...

The same thing is why I see my age in terms of levels rather than years. Makes the whole aging thing feel better.

And now I'm getting messages about other websites. :P
