It's absolutely perfect:

  • The throttle is locked down at 85 mph. The turnpike has a 70 mph speed limit, but there is very little traffic now and anybody rolling is moving along swiftly.
  • No more rain & and the road is dry - to be dry, well nearly dry, with perfect clear vision.
  • My last costume change was back into just Levis jeans, an Under Armour shirt, my heavy leather riding jacket and my fingerless leather gloves. This is the most comfortable riding - just slightly cool, lots of mobility.
  • The only hills now are mostly overpasses, but it still brings me joy to twist the throttle and even in sixth gear the beast surges forward effortlessly with toque that is just an engineering marvel.
  • The sun is dropping behind the storm clouds to the west producing a brilliant sunset full of drama between the clouds and the changing light.
  • My feet are up on the highway pegs and I'm leaning back against the hard seat luggage that turned out to be so well designed - water tight, stable and back support that was more comfortable then I could have ever imagined.
  • My Sony earbuds snugly tucked in my ears, sparing me a few moments from the loud relentless wind noise and jamming out great and unique tunes from Spotify radio.
  • The sweet smell of night jasmine wafting along in puffs from unknown locations.

It's absolutely perfect - I'm riding with a relaxation and contentment that has been difficult to obtain during last couple of tumultuous months. But that freedom from everything, including my own mind, is now coursing though my whole being.

The freedom we romanticize; the commercials and pictures in our brain of all the tomorrows - quiet, balanced time that feels like it belongs just to us; feeling in control, no negative energy; the mind and body in balance soaking up sights and sounds in a lazy and indulgent fashion. That perfect, delicious freedom that is always available, but seems so elusive because of the discipline necessary to push out the negative thoughts and hold the superfluous at bay.

But right now, it's my time, my world, my energy and it's absolutely perfect. Peace & Kink, Kev.
