I enjoy reading profiles on here, because its interesting to see how people express themselves to strangers. I've come across a few profiles that have indicated that being a Dom or Master has given them insight about themselves and helped them learn more about themselves.

I am curious, what insight have you learned about yourself being a dom or Master TO someone?

What insight have you gained about yourself over the years simply consciously identifying as a dom or Master? I say this because most doms and masters were so before they ever knew of BDSM as part of their persona.

If I may turn this one around - what I learned as a submissive/masochist is that I am a lot happier in that type of relationship, more confident in how I relate to my Sir or Sweetie.
In my vanilla relationships I seemed to spend a lot of time trying to make someone happy when that really wasn't what people expect. I almost feel that in a vanilla relationship the two involved are adversarial rather than partners. That was definitely the case in my late unlamented marriage.

I didn't learn anything ground breaking or shattering, just that i'm happier.......[:)]. Of course, there are a lot of people that haven't learnt that yet, so maybe I'm a bit ahead of the curve. or just late getting there.

Surprisingly, I "learned" (or developed) a higher level of sort of....paternalistic tenderness.
That's not like me. :)

That I wasn't near as smart as I thought I...was!
