A Florida man was arrested for domestic battery after striking his live-in boyfriend with a cup of ramen noodles, police report. Michael Herrick, 40, and his beau “got into a verbal argument at their residence in regards to questions of infidelity,” according to an arrest affidavit detailing the confrontation Friday. The 12:30 AM dispute in the couple’s Pinellas Park home turned violent when Herrick threw a cup of ramen noodles at the victim, who was struck in the neck by the noodles. ~The Smoking Gun

You can't make this shit up.

Was it boiling or hot water? That's the only thing I could see that would make this make any sense at all.

People make noodles with cold water, then?

Well, if it was scalding water (regardless of what was in it) I would think it would say so. And, there is nothing in the report about any burn injury to the victim. So hey, go figure? I just thought it was funny.

The ones I've seen come in plastic cups. You don't have to cook them to throw them. [:D]

Yeah, that's what I had in mind. If it was those cups,

then it could have been a pre-water throw or a post-water throw.

If it was a pre-water throw, then it would have just been dry noodles, nothing to cause injury, except to dignity.

If it was a post-water throw, then it could have been pre-microwaved noodle throw, which would result in no injury, except maybe to dignity.

Or if it was a post-water throw, and additionally post-microwave noodle cup throw, that would involve boiling water and burned skin, which was not reported in the article.

It's all in the details. Apparently that reporter has never eaten ramen noodles or she would have know the necessity of these questions.

What, as though journalists should ask meaningful questions and extract relevant details? That's way too hard. The standard way is to curate your feed of PR plants and police reports and pass them on verbatim or with only the slightest of editing. It's all about throughput. Quantity beats quality every time.

At least he didn't make his boyfriend eat them. [:)]

I figure the journalist just got it off the police blotter. Didn't bother to ask questions.

I check the police Twitter occasionally if I think there's going to be road work listed. Some of the weird stuff that you read just makes you shake your head. Truth really is stranger than fiction.

See now I'm going to go sign up for the police blotter. Because weird shit.
