Well, you don't have to be Fellini to know they made all their movies on a shoe-string budget.

They heard there was a one-legged actor that lived near-by to where they were shooting. They figured it would be easier to dig the hole for when the black knight loses his "second leg" if they only have to dig enough for one leg.

If you watch the scene, closely, you'll see the Black Knight gets considerably shorter, once his first leg is cut off.

Oh! Interesting historical aside: The local actors name was Richard Burton (but not the famous one, obviously).

Cleese tells the story in an interview vignette on the "director's cut" or the "anniversary edition" or whatever DVD I have.

Interesting perhaps, but nothing mysterious about it. Just another person like yourself who considers accuracy and facts to be anathema to your cause and contrives fiction more convenient to the cause in their stead.

i remember watching some of that on tv when it was first out, but that was new to me.

not too long ago I read an article fairly chastising the troupe for poking fun, at numerous turns, at Christianity, but not daring to insult islam.

i wouldn't say that was my point, but rather that there is a little explored sentiment that blacks in America could be/should be thankful they are born in America as opposed to having been born in Africa.

It has been explored quite extensively by racist and fools.

When they manage to crawl out of their victim mentality and rise above it they will finally be able to have gratitude towards the causes that resulted in a much better position for them to be in during their lifetime. Sadly some of them will not be able to rise to this level.

maybe you could be using your omniscience for more useful purposes?

tamaka -> RE: Alt-Right? More like Alt-White. (11/24/2016 7:01:55 PM)

Booker T. Washington understood the need for blacks to embrace the idea of gratitude.

Yeah, even with the shitbreathing, it cant be hard to realize that many blacks have come from Africa and other countries without the benevolence of slavers charity. So not only is it not a necessary and sufficient condition, there are many blacks in Africa that are doing just fine in Africa too, as well as in America.

bounty44 -> RE: Alt-Right? More like Alt-White. (11/24/2016 7:11:49 PM)

this isn't a perfect fit but its related to the larger picture.

D'Souza quotes Washington in the chapter "thank you mr Jefferson:"

"the wisest of my race understand that the agitation of questions of social equality is the extremist folly, and that progress in the enjoyment of all of the privileges that will come to us must be the result of severe constant struggle rather than of artificial forcing...it is important and right that all the privileges of the law be ours, but it is vastly more important that we be prepared for the exercise of these privileges."

If one reads the lecture referenced he speaks of progress not gratitude.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

Honestly since you need every word spelled out exactly for you so you can understand it... i'd say you are the fucking stupid one. So why don't you go color inside the lines or something. Better yet go paint by number...that's the best chance for your success at something. You really are quite dumb.

"They"?

Not sure which They you're referring to, but yes, the folks at Alt-Right, the Tea Party, the KKK, etc., whose entire premise is openly based on a victim mentality, indicates that They need to crawl out of that victim-fest.

Wait ...

Were you talking about the White They or the Black They?

Everyone afflicted they. It is a disease that has spread rampantly with the 'Progressive' movement.

No mentally stable black person would ever have gratitude to white people for being in America. The only 'position' the white people put them in was slavery. Whatever improvement from that position to their status today is the result of much struggle by many from both races involved at various steps of the way. When impediments to improving their position were gradually reduced, -much by their own effort-, the vast majority of black people did indeed rise above their unfortunate past.

Who knew!

Tell me how did they get from Africa to America.
