simple, in ANY of those situations America will be SO engaged in trying to recover from those fuckups that putin will be able to do whatever he wants without a weak America to deal with,

You need to look at the reality of what Putin/Russia's position is in relation to China and then ask yourself what good could a weak America do for Russia. Answer is nothing... so there is no reason why Putin would play that hand. He might as well fold to China right now and save himself the aggravation.
