The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.

Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”

Post truth? or is there anyone that believes it what the CIA say?

or is it a conspiracy to deny trump.if there is a link...will his supporters just say "meh"?

Why....why Lucy would the election of Trump be an advantage to Russia?

Was it about boosting Trump or giving us the truth about Hillary?

What truth... I think you use that word loosely. And... what disadvantage to Russia would ensue with Clinton's elected instead of Trump? As far as that goes what advantage to Russia would it be to attempt to simply disrupt an election or make Americans disgusted with their government?

I'm not saying they did not try to interfere but I am saying I do not believe they were trying to get one particular candidate elected. If their idea was to make Americans loose faith in their government it was just a waste of time and resources... we don't need any help for that.

This, to me, is the scariest thing. I have a scenario that answers your question.

Hillary is much closer on the "socialism scale" to Putin.

With Trump in office, Putin has a lot better chance (on any given day) to have a convenient devil to which he can point and tell his people what an evil empire we are.

It's the only "advantage" I can see for Putin; kind of like the way we kept the Shah or Saddam in power until it was convenient for us to remove them.

Just me I guess... but I have a hard time associating Putin with socialism as it is defined.

It was curious to me, given the avalanche of data that was coming from Wikileaks, we didn't see her or her team trying too hard to deny it's validity.

That's pretty how my question was meant as well. Same result, I suppose, but different motivations.

Myself, like a lot of people, I was not too enamored with Clinton...but I saw no damning information in the leaks.

You mean the guy that was the head of the KGB in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics?

By way of a very rudimentary explanation: Communism, according to Karl Marx (the guy who "wrote the book"?), is a "step" on the way to socialism, which Marx considered to be the goal.

WAY to fucking funny!

So now the NSA knows how we feel when carnivore and prism to name only 2 tears through our shit!

The body of evidence suggesting that Russian government-backed hackers were responsible for penetrating the email servers of the Democratic National Committee and arranging the transfer of nearly 20,000 internal emails to WikiLeaks has been built up to the point where few people outside the Kremlin challenge it anymore.

But can you say that Putin is following the teachings of Marx as his personal ideology... There could be no greater difference in Marx's meaning and Putin's leadership. Putin is a lot closer in temperament and actions to Trump than Clinton. He seems to be reasonably intelligent and he should recognized the similarities between himself and Trump and that should scare the hell out of him...if anything make him more of a supporter of Clinton.

I think it's very simple. Russia wants to keep China in check and Trump is the best/only way to help him with that.

Obviously, Putin was being altruistic because he and Trump both love freedom and Hillary hates it and wants to destroy it.

Even though you're trying to play a game (I'll explain later), I'll give it another try:

"There could be no greater difference in Marx's meaning and Putin's leadership." "Meaning" and "leadership" are two totally different animals. Both men are striving toward socialism with the ultimate endgame being to spread that ideology throughout the world. How Putin goes about getting that done in comparison to how Marx might have is immaterial. The end goal is unacceptable.

Now, on to your game:

Unfortunately, you're falling into a typical category, lately. I answer your question about political ideology and then, you try to twist it to be about temperament. You can't engage in an even-handed debate so, you try to add a few twists and turns. Fail sauce.

While I have to admit: your attempt at the pivot was masterful. No cigar.

You do not answer any questions... you create more... you seem to not know what socialism is or the tenets of Marx's teachings... Putin is NOT a socialists and does not lead with socialism... this is and has been my point from my first comment on your post.

I am not redirecting...I am addressing your post directly on your comparison between Clinton and Putin.

Complete and utter bullshit as usual RealZero!!
