Wait a sec. Don't people lose weight on crack? Everybody can rest easy. Not happening.
It's really not that unusual for kink groups/clubs to do auctions this time of year. They are fun. Money usually goes to a charity or to keep the club open. Right now in Baltimore, one of the clubs has run across some serious costs related to their building and people have put up goods and services for auction that the money is going to the club. The two rope tops who auctioned themselves to teach individual rope intensives, I can tell you now, those are worth every penny the top bidder is paying for them. (They are probably the best two rope tops in the entire city.)
The "12 Days" event was just on Saturday. It's an LGBT/leather function that is a huge fundraiser where a lot of that money comes from auctions. Last year, they raised $11,000.+ that went to four charities. If you've got Facebook, you can look them up on there. Big production. It's a fabulous show. I can't say enough good about it.
On the other hand, if somebody is going to start a thread auctioning off their 'domestic service submission' for a starting price of 250 bucks, that person better be showing up in the van that's hauling the professional carpet cleaning equipment or a licensed contractor who is going to paint a few of the rooms in my house. If I'm going to spend that money on *just* somebody cleaning my house, I'm just going to set an appointment with any of the dozens of businesses in my location, where I can read reviews of their work via google at the touch of my fingertips.
What I'm not going to do, and I wouldn't suggest anybody else do, is pay somebody their decided 'auction price' for their 'domestic service submission,' when the same person, last week, tried to emotionally manipulate a bunch of strangers on the net about how they wanted to end their life. Call me callous if you'd like, but I'm thinking that's probably not the stranger that you want in your home. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but coming to an internet forum such as this one to vent your suicidal thoughts, when the people on the forum don't even consider you so much as an acquaintance, just isn't going to yield the response hoped for. In my opinion, NOT taking that stuff to the therapist that a person already claims they are seeing, makes about as much damn sense as a cancer patient not telling their oncologist about one of the symptoms related to their disease.
Another thing I'm not going to do is try to discount that trans* folks have a higher rate of depression and/or suicide than their het counterparts. Most lay people, including myself, are not clinically trained to handle this. It's exactly why anybody with half a brain cell will tell the person that their professional is more qualified to deal with the issues at hand.
