This story just shows that if someone wants to be offended by something, they will be.

I'm going to say the same thing here that I said about this same article on another forum..

ROFLMAO, I remember when this whole thing was in the news. Being a pseudo geek and living with a true geek, we laughed for weeks trying to make up new terms for the two hard drive configuration. Dominant and submissive was an obvious one, but we found others; Pimp and Ho, Boss and Peon, God and insignificant insect to name a few. The only one of these that politicized things that doesn't make me laugh is calling the Iraqi terrorists "insurgents." Words have power. Using a euphemism lets things not seem so awful. It lets us ignore the true scope of what is going on over there.

Next time my Husband is talking about computers and says something about master.slave I know damn well I'm going to crack up. That having been said. Let's get over this political correctiness thing. You can never make everyone happy. No matter how 'nice' thing sound.

A week or so ago I was channel surfing and saw Pulp Fiction playing on the American Movie Classics channel. I've seen it plenty of times, but nothing else caught my interest so I turned it on and it was around the middle after Bruce Willis retrieves his watch. I wasn't surprised that a lot of language was edited, but I flipped it off after seeing that "The Gimp" was completely cut out of this version,

So maybe the folks at AMC read that article and didn't want to offend anyone.

I agree with the ridiculousness of the list, but feel the same way as BeachMystress about "insurgents." Which made me think of how often the term "ethnic cleansing" is in the news to describe the genocide taking place in several countries. How could Master/slave used for computers be more offensive than "ethnic cleansing" being the description for the organized massacre of an entire sector of a country's population because of their race/religion???
Sorry for the rant, but the term ethnic cleansing, and the fact that it's the most accepted and used term just completely disgusts me....

Yes, it's very odd isn't it?

Perhaps next we will begin calling murderers "Respect for Life challenged"?

(It must be a disease, funny how they cure it with the same affliction)
