The blue states should stop carrying the red states.
They've gone all the way from dead weight to cancer.

Oh, but you are taking "who they voted for" as final arbiter of all things.

Californians also voted to relieve Chevron of any royalty payments for oil drilled in their state, also allowed by law the most heinous lending practices that all the rest of the country eventually had to pay for.

But all you can do do is blurt (more likely burp) something about 'blue states' and 'red states.'

Fucking loser, if ever there was.

The difference is that Obama was essentially business as usual.
Trump is madness.

Obama wasn't insane.
It wasn't okay, but it didn't pose a threat to global stability.

Oh, I guess I'm the only one who wants Trump removed from office.
There isn't a massive global opposition to him (all of it perfectly justified).

You know full well that I never said that. There were more people than you think that Obama was the worst thing that could have happened to us, we just behaved far more properly than you or the scum you agree with. The opposition is built up with people like you who hate America. Of course our enemies don't like Trump, he isn't a pushover for them like Obama was or half as corrupt as Hillary would have been.

Well there some in government that claim that a state leaving is unconstitutional, they seem to have forgotten....

Virginia, New York and Rhode Island ratified the constitution conditionally, reserving the right to secede should their citizens decide it is in the state's best interest to do so.

Add to that there is no place in the constitution or the amendments that say leaving the United States is illegal and unconstitutional, and to this point, after the civil war, a number of southern states were forced to rewrite their constitutions to make it illegal for them to ever leave again.

Finally, the tenth amendment pretty much implies that the states have the right to leave.

What made it a problem in the civil war was some hot head decided to start shelling Fort Sumter.

Until then, the Federal government was playing a wait and see game, albeit with a blockade, but still....

As for the statement concerning Trump and his presidency.

The constitution allows for at least two ways that he can be removed from office. And until such time as that he makes either of those two legally necessary, he is our president, and lest we forget the liberal argument that said the same thing about Obama, he does deserve our support.

That does not mean we have to agree with him, it does mean that we have to follow the laws he passes.

And, as many on these boards said to users who dissed and bad mouthed Obama, if you dont like it, there's the door or airport, harbor, whatever way you want, you are free to leave.

If it is wrong for Trump to do it it was wrong for Obama to, Trump is not insane, but unlike Obama he is not ashamed to be an American.

LOL... the straw man king is accusing me of misrepresenting him!

Even if they did think that, they were obviously wrong. W. made the US an international dirty word and Obama brought class and respect. The global economy surged... even if some people refused to adapt and got left behind, Obama created 14 million jobs.

Trump isn't strong-- he's just a bully. And not even an effective one... after threatening Mexico he was forced to spend a whole day sucking up over the phone.

You have no idea what all of this unconsidered, blatantly stupid action that the incompetence fuck is committed to will do to the US or its position in the world... I don't even think you care. You just like the idea of a giant fucking douchebag pretending that America can do everything by itself and won't completely self-destruct when the rest of the world finally gets fed up and tells Trump to go fuck himself.

And it will happen.

You are the radical proposing the murder of the president, not me.
You are the one who wants, and believes, that Mexico can overrun the US.
You are the one who makes excuses for our enemies makes us a laughing stock.
You are the one who thinks that just because someone lies and pretends that terrorist attacks aren't that means they don't exist and that the world likes us.

Will the US split (eventually)? How would your state/region fare?

From your lips to God's ear!

Give the PPLs California, New York City, and Southern Florida. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Obama went around the world apologizing for everything we have ever done an tried to turn us into a 2nd rate power like france. He spent 8 years trying to rule by EO and doing everything he could to ignore congress the courts and the Constitution.

They've gone all the way from dead weight to cancer.

Sorry you missed out, bro, but the rest of the country absolutely bailed out NY and California in the financial crisis, with Idaho and Iowa and Alabama and Kansas tax money to bail out NYC in 1975, etc. You've got it 'bass ackwards' there.
Those two states are cancer upon the country, and upon society, in fact.

Their welfare would dry up pretty quickly if they allowed the biggest economies to collapse.

Indeed, NY and Cali and their financial wealth suckers would dry up overnight without the welfare contributed by the productive sector of society as exists in the rest of the states.

What would be the financial benefit to you if your electric bill went from $290 per month to $95 per month?

That's what the US government has been doling out to the oil companies for many decades, at expense to every working person elsewhere in the country, but now ladled out also to the financial sector since two decades of deregulation.

The country is broke. We just can't afford the wealth-sucking corporate welfare states of California and New York and all the ongoing subsidies and bailouts inherent therein any more.

They need to go, for sake of the nation.

This is mainly just the rantings of sore losers. Although Ca has gone further than anyone since 1861 I would like to think that there are enough rational people even there to stop it. While we might be better off (and them too) I don't think that even Ca have gone that far off the deep end.

mnottertail -> RE: Will the US split (eventually)? How would your state/region fare? (1/31/2017 8:14:16 PM)

red southern welfare states are scared to secede they are just pud pounding when they do it. They know they will lose their welfare checks and the citizens will take everything they have to pay back some of the money those deadbeats owe us.

The broken record speaks again.

Still carping on black people, as coming from the region where the second whitest thing is snow.

No surprise here.

All empires have come to an end eventually. I don't see how a country this divided can stay together that much longer. Why wouldn't splitting into an ultra conservative and an ultra liberal countries be a good thing? Devil is in the details, of course, but neither side ever truly really gets to do what they want to do in this system. If the former Confederate states plus some of the Midwestern states were to be a separate country, why wouldn't everyone be happy?

Both would learn the foolishness of there positions.
The conservatives would have the resources to keep our commitments. And the liberals would find that disarmement and socialized medicine would make them safe.

I'm assuming you meant something else when talking about the liberals. Without real opposition, both sides would have to refine their positions. There is some merit to both sides positions, but the way things are, both sides see even considering the other side's arguments as a defeat, rather than constructive criticism.

How about their open borders stand, if they got their way it would be a disaster.
