quietD -> How do you open a closed mind ? (1/31/2017 1:43:16 PM)

How do you open a closed mind, this evening I've had a message off a sub, who's ad I had answered with a polite message asking her to tell me more about herself, her response was OTT calling me a fantasist and that I ought to leave this site for the genuine people that are on here, she further went on to say she has had a profile for some time and knew all the long standing regulars, her profile has been on this site for 5 years

As my own profile has been on this site and before when it was collarme for nearly 12 years now at what point is one accepted as genuine ?

When you've met in person, face to face.

Not much chance of that as messages are getting the deleted unread treatment !

Deleted unread is a polite way of telling you they aren't interested.

ETA: It doesn't mean they haven't been read - it means they haven't been opened; subtle difference.
If it's a short message, hovering a mouse over the message brings it up in a box without actually opening it.

Your journal entry today will do more harm than good, even though I'm sure you enjoyed the public rant. People read journal entries and negative ones turn many people off.

For me genuine is as genuine does. I'm afraid anyone can pretend to be anything they want online.

As for opening a closed mind; why bother trying? If you message someone, and they react badly to you, surely this is not a person you want in your life in the first instance. Simply move on. For what other reason would you be trying? to prove that you are right about a point? that would only make them dislike you for disrespecting their POV at such an early stage. Simply leave them alone and fine someone much more in tune to your life and wants.

Here's my guess. She saw your message, clicked on quick view of your profile and read some of the whining journal entries, decided that "whining dominant" was an oxymoron, and deleted your message unread. I've done this many times myself. Expedient.

I agree 100% with this.

A person is not real to me until I meet him face to face in real life.

I've met alot of online people and have form long term friendships with people I've met from online. But it doesn't get truly real until you meet in real life.

If your message was deleted unread, it simply mean, you aren't compatible with them. It could be because of your appearance, or they didn't like your introduction. You don't have to even open a mail to read the first few lines in it. Thus all the delete unread.

I would absolutely delete unread a message which says, "Tell me more about yourself."

The first thing that would occur to me, is, "Wank Fodder dude!"

But I do have a detailed profile so if a man cannot ask more intelligent questions that shows he has read my profiles or my journals. I ain't gonna waste my time answering him.

And end of the day, it's about matching personalities. IF the woman doesn't like what you say within the first line, it means both of you are not compatible with each other already.

Mental connection is very important, and I can literally tell within the first sentence of a person contacting me whether I would click with him or not. It's often extremely accurate.

Why are you wasting time chasing a woman who has been clear that she has no interest in you?

Do you frequently stalk women in real life also?

Go to a munch, meet local people.

So you cold messaged a woman asking her to tell you more about herself? Why did you do that?

I bet she had a profile jam packed with info about herself. And you contacted her and asked her to take control of the situation.

Next time, read someone's profile and ask questions of her, things you really want to know about her. Then ask her!

Better luck next time.

This is valid if the user is online via desktop. There's no hover option on mobile devices.

considering some of the people I have met, who when presented with the facts, confirmed by a dozen or more sources, they still maintain the same idea....

I suggest a cast iron skillet or cricket bat.
