With all the doom and gloom in the news, I thought that we should take time and look at the accomplishments of humanity in the modern age. For instance: 1) Lasers were once the great scientific breakthrough, heralding a new age in physics.... And now we use them to play with cats, or in my case, two of the six dogs I own. 2) Microwaves. The great new kitchen appliance to save housewives time, and make things easier. We use them to warm up coffee. 3) The internet. Heralded as the breakthrough in personal communications. 50% porn, 45% cats, 5% personal communications and information exchange. Which brings me to this. In the sixties they predicted we would have robots in the home by now (a vacuum cleaner that does not need me to push it does not count), colonies on the moon and Mars, disease would be a thing of the past, life would be easy and everything would be great. Someone fucked up.
