jlf1961 -> Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (3/9/2017 7:44:38 PM)

Last week I purchased 2000 gallons of diesel for my home tanks and 3000 pounds of ammonia nitrate fertilizer.

Today, I got a visit from the ATF.

Now, we are standing at the barn, the tractor, pickup and two surplus military trucks are parked in plain view.

Here are the questions:

1) Why did you purchase so much diesel fuel?
Answer: everything I own but the chain saws use diesel.

2) And the fertilizer?
Answer: Want to plant alfalfa, summer rye, and coastal hay.

3) According to your own statement, you did not purchase fertilizer last year.
Answer: We were still in a drought status last year, did not try to plant anything.

4) I noticed on the county records, you have four wells on the property, are you saying you did not irrigate?
Answer: This is west texas, the water table is not constant, when it is really dry the water is deeper, and I could not afford to have the wells deepened. However, if I make enough off the extra hay, I might just do that.

5) So, you are saying that you have no intent other than agricultural for these purchases?

Answer: If I had some intent other than agricultural, do you really think I would have used my fucking debit card which can be traced back to me to buy the diesel and fertilizer? Does the ATF, and by extension, Department of Homeland Security think that domestic terrorists are that fucking stupid?

Statement: Sir, if you persist with the antagonistic attitude, I can have a few more agents out here within the hour to search the property.
Answer: Hold on while I make a call to a friend of mine, a constitutional law attorney, he is going to love you guys.

At that point he concluded the interview and left.

It seems that other than myself, four neighbors (one an assistant police chief in town) also were visited by the ATF.

It seems that we may be considered possible threats to national security due to the purchases of standard farm supplies.

Wait until next month, all of us have large limestone boulders we want to break up for paving material, we were thinking of jointly renting a piece of contstruction equipment with a hydraulic chisel like thing to break em up.

We are now thinking that explosives may be more fun.

I did try to find someone with explosives years ago for some damn boulder that's in the middle of my driveway. As far as we could figure out, the only people licensed for that appears to be the Thruway Authority. We just dump four inches of gravel a year on it. And have for over 30 fucking years.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (3/12/2017 6:55:59 PM)

Add some paint grade powdered aluminum if you want more bang for your buck.

I doubt that will do hay fields much good.

Well, a viable solution is found here or you can find the directions to make gun cotton on the internet, which will do a good enough job in the proper amounts.

Funny thing about gun cotton.

In the mid to late 1800's a couple of companies that made billiard balls discovered that gun cotton could be formed quite easily and started making balls out of the stuff.

When cool, it turned out they were quite stable.

Warm however was a different story, and sometimes the cue ball would explode when tapped by a cue or sometimes the cue ball and ball struck by the cue ball would explode.

Now, being a pool and billiards player, I see both the problems with this situation and the humor.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term "scratch."

WhoreMods -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (3/13/2017 4:58:08 AM)

Pity they didn't think to use guncotton balls for the overlong sequence in The Hustler with the retro styled billiards table, but I suppose that would have suited Wile E Coyote better than Paul Newman...

Black powder works on stumps. I didn't think you could use it for granite, though.

What do you think they used before dynamite and nitro?

Dude....as crazy as that was....just be thankful....they're checking up.

(Just hide the fissile material).

Who needs fissile material when you can get hold of Cesium 137 [;)]

Replacing the culvert in the stream required getting permission from the Army Corps of Engineer. I don't think I want to deal with the fallout from high (or low) explosives.

Since when does replacing a drive way culvert (I assume that is the purpose) in a stream requires and okay for the ACoE?

Unless there are some wetlands which could possibly be impacted, except that if there already was a culvert in place that is a null point, since it is, or should be grandfathered.

Hell, if it is a year round stream here in Texas, the state highway department will do it for a minimal charge just to make sure there is no restriction to water flow or damage to the road right of way.

How long a span are you dealing with, just out of curiosity? There may be an alternative solution.

This. I'm not a fan of government intrusion but in light of Timothy Mcveigh and his remodeling exploits I'm glad they're checking out the possibilities. I wouldn't stew about it. Play nice, shake their hand, smile and thank them for their service. Next year when you order an explosive mix you may or may not get another visit. Regarding your CC, not all criminals are known to be masterminds and suicidal folk probably wouldn't care if the purchase was traced back to them once the deed is done.

For the guy with the boulder in his driveway. 4 inches of gravel every year for 30 years is 10 feet of gravel. Lol. Just rent a Jack hammer and Jack up that boulder.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (4/17/2017 1:00:24 AM)

a better idea to get rid of that boulder is to light a large, very hot fire over it until the boulder glows red, then pour really cold water over it. It should split and you can do the same thing again using the crack or cracks in it, to reduce it to more manageable pieces.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (4/17/2017 1:50:21 AM)

A better idea again may be to get somebody else to poor ice water on the boulder when it's red hot.................maybe somebody you really don't like. Either that, or hit it with a jet from a hose from a reasonable distance. The result can be quite spectacular.

DesFIP -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (4/17/2017 9:33:31 AM)

I'm in the NYC watershed area. You need permission for anything that might impact streams.
But NYC has the best/safest water in the nation because the NYCDEC has so much power. Considering they also provide water for the towns along the way what that means is that for 100 miles around, the only chance for contamination would be old paint and old pipes.

Even though I'm on a well, that still applies. Nothing can be sold or used that will contaminate the aquifer.

3000 pounds of ammonia nitrate fertilizer. guffaws
2000 gallons of diesel guffaws guffaws

I am surprised they didnt water board you.

I hope you told them Allah says go fuk yourself

Well, just by looking at the map of the NYC watershed, I cant help but ask one simple little question.....

What did they do about all the old tanneries and textile mills along those rivers and streams?

Considering the chemicals used in textiles and leather production prior to the 1950's and the abundance of small mills in that area, and given the geology of the area, I am quite certain that in a few years that clean water wont be.

Not to mention the glass works that were all over that part of the state.

I mean cobalt used to used to tint glass, make textile and leather dyes, and the acids they used to tan leather was probably disposed of on the grounds of those mills.

Oh, if anyone has any idea why cobalt is something to worry about, there are some Faberge eggs in a Moscow museum that can only be displayed behind leaded glass. The cobalt used to tint the glass in the eggs is radioactive.

Its kind of like the problem here in Texas with the Edwards Aquifer. There is a lot of land above the aquifer that was polluted by spilled or leaked crude oil before they stopped having gushers and better regulations on field tank batteries and crude oil pipelines. There are stretches of land so poisoned by the crude oil that almost nothing will grow on in them.

And it is estimated that in another fifty or so years, the crude oil will have percolated down through the soil and rock into the aquifer.

One of the exceptions to the plants that will grow in these dead areas happens to be illegal in the US, meaning cannabis.

Funny thing about the pot plant, it pulls everything out of the ground it is planted in and given enough time, will actually clean up polluted areas.

God help anyone that tries to smoke it, since it would probably kill them instantly.

As I said, I told them I was going to call a friend of mine who practices constitutional law.

As for the boulders, we filed the proper paper work and purchased both dynamite and some other explosives, including Ampro, and invited the local law enforcement folks out to help and use the time for some training.

DesFIP -> RE: Evidently I am a domistic Terrorist (4/18/2017 6:36:01 AM)

There have not been tanneries permitted for almost a hundred years. Nor raising of fur bearing animals. I read the town codes one time for fun.

Glass and ceramics are much further upstate. Although ceramic engineering does not involve making dishes or decorative objects.

However the weekend's fun activity involved digging up the septic tank to figure out why it was backing up. Fun being defined as no fun at all. The downstairs toilet still needs to be reinstalled but we should be working fine for a while.
