The USA Today had an editorial regarding the rolling back of the CAFE standards. The overall gist of the editorial was that all the gains in gas mileage were going to be gone, and that the increase in more eco-friendly vehicles was going to stop and fall back. It completely ignores any demand consumers might have for more eco-friendly, or high mpg vehicles. It's as if these people are willing to be supply-siders as long as it fits their own agendas.




CAFE means Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency.

But when you need thirty sheets of plywood, your Honda Civic just ain't gonna make it.

Flat demand means jack shit. Is demand going to disappear if CAFE standards are rolled back? Are auto makers going to stop researching and developing eco-friendly drivetrains and engines/motors?


We know of one that does. Fiat was forced by the states of california and oregon to produce and sell an all electric car. Fiat ceo does all he can to stop people from buying them.

If I haven't convinced you yet, that most of life in America maybe most of western civilization and increasingly, eastern civilization, is all about money, maybe this will help.

$100's of Billion$ and adjusted for inflation, assuredly Trillion$ in govt. subsidies for over 100 years for gas, oil and coal. IT is ALL about fucking MONEY !!

Seriously, if the whole of the oil, gas and coal profiteers do not or are not forced to finance and others through at least a small contribution to subsidize alternatives among which I swear is magnetism (earth's magnetic field) which is the foundation of electromotive force, through an equally ambitious effort similar to the Manhattan Project to get the world off of carbon based energy, then by 2100 yes.....

.....our children and their children and their grandchildren will recall, 'Gee, Mom & Dad, you were right after all, we had better mutate to a brand new carbon gene, or...we are fucked.

Surprisingly enough, I have yet to see any advertisements for Honda Civics that promoted the vehicle for transporting plywood.

Actually I think that there were advanced civilizations on this planet before ours, but got wiped out for some reason. They did not have TV and PC, but they were not stupid. But shit happened.

And I agree that it can happen again. Mother Nature is going to have a hard time killing seven billion of us, but she can be a real bitch sometimes.

Let it happen, I am really sick and tired of this shit. Now they are talking WW3, which might result in a fate worse than death for some of us.

Everyone talks about Assad and the chems, which is ot proven, but the US lets companies poison our food and whatever else.
