Typical "liberal" posting style.

Q: How do you make a "liberal" mad?

A: You don't need to do anything, they're completely mad already

How do you make a factless felchgobbling nutsucker mad? facts. its why they are always mad, shitting in their pants, sackless, hysterical homophobes, pimping pedophiles and felchgobbling, like this idiot, old compound gimp and pedophile pimp, Felchgobbler gobbles

When may we expect a sequel to your irish slave story?

I did exclude things like:
Isostatic rebound
Loch Lomand stadial
Thermal expansion

from my earlier waffle because there are many dumbfuks on here, by no means all ;) Shit link by the way thompsonx

Water levels have been rising ever since we've began observing them, it has been projected that ocean levels have risen ~400 feet in the past 21,000 years, but since the 1900's ocean levels have only risen something like 6-8 inches...

WTF you're comparing ocean level rise over 21,000 years to ocean level rise over less than 150?? How does that make sense?

Even if you're actually talking about an average (I'm not in the mood to look up the figures), the past 21,000 years included the transition from a glacial to interglacial period... so of course you're going to have dramatic ocean rise... because there is more ice to melt. The shift from glacial to interglacial is part of a natural cycle that in this case has produced a remarkably stable climate that has allowed humanity to flourish over the past 10,000 years.

Including the transition period is NOT helpful in understanding our current climate. The last glacial period is over. The transition is over. We have already arrived at the new climatic norm... and now it's just a matter of whether or not we're going to totally fuck it up.

The question isn't whether recent levels of ocean rise are normal for a glacial or transition period, it's whether or not they're normal or can be explained by natural forces within THIS type of climate.

What the hell? You haven't proven anything, stupid moron. Just posted a bunch of pretend science news. You don't suppose, that perhaps, banning polar bear hunting after the 70s had anything to do with an increase of their numbers since then?

Has it occurred to you, oh Almighty thinking one, that factors other than that might impact polar Bear population's? That melting sea ice will have an impact?

Or are you one of these priceless princesses who says oh no the sea ice isn't really melting!

So the U.S. Geological Survey - the leading scientific body on natural and earth sciences - is 'pretend science'...
Good to know you feel that way.

And i do love that - 'Polar Bears are going extinct because melting Sea Ice!' - which was the argument held by an Inconvinent Truth, and that you tried to peddle to me - Very quickly was rolled off into 'Well, we haven't been hunting them since the 70s! so obviously they would be increasing!' As if you were not just an instant ago making the argument that Global Ice Melting was causing Polar Bears to die in droves because of the destruction of it's natural ecosystem.

you take it upon yourself to call me a 'stupid moron', decry what i present as 'pretend science news', state that i am in Denial of facts while not presenting any evidence to the contrary, and only provide conjecture as a counter to everything I've said...

The point i was making was that ocean levels have been rising near constantly since the last glacial period... several ancient harbors and coastal cities from ancient Greece and Egypt are now under water because of the steady increasing sea level. Making it a some what natural event... The idea that global warming is the sole cause of rising sea levels and pointing out the fact that the ocean gets closer and closer to coastal buildings each year is not a valid argument.

Yes, global warming is a thing.
Yes we are contributing to it.

but guess what - The streets of miami that are getting flooded during high tide?
Yeah they probably would still be getting flooded even if we never discovered fossil fuels...

Except they haven't been rising near constantly... there was a massive rapid melt as the Earth transitioned from glacial to interglacial (violent climate shifts as well), and then everything stabilized.

You can't just say that several cities from ancient Greece and Egypt are underwater and declare that ocean levels always rise-- you have to look at the RATE of ocean level rise from that time onward and compare it to the current RATE of ocean level rise.

You must realize that a rise of about an inch over 50 years isn't the same thing as a rise of about an inch over say 300 years, right? I'm not claiming this is a fact, I'm just giving a random example... because if the current rate of ocean level rise is faster than the rate of ocean level rise has been over the past 10,000 years, that is very significant.

Choosing 21,000 years ago as a starting point is unhelpful because we simply haven't seen similar rates of ocean level rise over the past 10,000 years as the planet did over the previous 10,000 years. You're cherry picking-- using a starting point with no scientific value simply because it helps your argument.

To identify a climate trend, the picture cannot be too big or too small. To include the highly unstable pre-interglacial climate (ice core data shows how unstable it was and how rapidly ocean levels rose) with the far more stable climate of our current interglacial period (in which ocean level rise slowed and stabilized) is to deny that the climate ever really stabilized... which it most certainly did.

Musicmystery -> RE: "Inconvenient Sequel" hits theatres July 28th (4/7/2017 12:52:15 PM)

Not only that, but to say "Well, I've decided it's not a valid argument, so let's pretend the sea is not rising" is ridiculous. That something is the "sole" reason (something InfoIdiot introduced, incidentally, not something I claimed) doesn't negate that it's happening.

FFS. This must be among the dumbest countries ever.

It wasn't my story, I simply brought it to the boards. You'd have to speak to the author. I was taken in by one author...how many times have you been taken in by a limousine-riding, jet-flying, biggest house-I-can-buy "green activist"?
