WickedsDesire -> Graphene-based sieve turns seawater into drinking water (4/3/2017 12:13:47 PM)

A UK-based team of researchers has created a graphene-based sieve capable of removing salt from seawater.

The sought-after development could aid the millions of people without ready access to clean drinking water.

The promising graphene oxide sieve could be highly efficient at filtering salts, and will now be tested against existing desalination membranes.

It has previously been difficult to manufacture graphene-based barriers on an industrial scale.

By 2025 the UN expects that 14% of the world's population will encounter water scarcity and i think californication (great show= so so funny) has just come out of drought

Actually I am not sure the implications and applications - costs etc versus current technology desalination plants

It means...
absolutely nothing unfortunately.

talks and claims of a new graphene super filter which can basically solve the worlds 'clean drinking water' problem has been an annual thing since graphene was discovered.

from the way all these reports talk about it - it would seem like the world's clean water problem has been solved 5 times over by now...
