Head of key US congressional investigation into alleged Russian hacking steps down due to ethics inquiry into him

The head of a key US congressional investigation into alleged Russian hacking has temporarily stepped down amid an ethics inquiry into him.

House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes is now himself under investigation by the House Ethics Committee.

The panel is looking into claims that the Republican disclosed classified intelligence.

Mr Nunes called the charges "entirely false" and "politically motivated".

Representative Mike Conaway will take control of the Russia investigation

guffaws

It's alright, I never assume that you know anything about anything anyway. So no harm done

Can your house of lords investigate some scandal with cabbage or whomever while the house of commons investigates the same scandal separately?

We can here.

Not bad boscox and you made me smile with that one...you were able to absorb an iota of what I said and use it against me. Granted nothing of importance and relevance, but still I smiled :)

You reward is this. Today do you want me to go with snowflake boscox or clueless egg cunt? Because you sure as fuk don’t know the answer to the question I asked you clueless egg cunt

Ta mnottertail

House of Lords, who are all un elected, does it have a purpose? I am not sure. In a way they can keep a government in check if they go totally fuking mental

The answer to your question nope http://www.parliament.uk/about/how/committees/select/

But can they block a government bill? Now, this I am not entirely certain...any of you English Jackals about?

That is their function. (Also why Blair was so keen to remove their powers and do away with them.)
And yes, they can block government bills: everything has to go through the upper house first, and a lot has been blocked there.

Are you sure any parliament doesn't have a way of ramming some mad fukery through?

WhoreMods -> RE: Congress Russian probe chief steps aside (4/6/2017 11:11:10 AM)

Many have been fond of sneaking legislation through during the parliamentary recess in the hope nobody will notice, but (in theory at least) the Lords can block even that, so long as they notice it's being done.

Seems like your lords can form select committees....

and also true in house of commons...

We are a nation of ponces and poofters so they hold pro forma session when they are in recess so the pres cans sneak in any stuff.

That i do know ;) WM but part of me thinks they have a modus operandi for bypassing the incontinent geriatrics turning up for their expense money. Do they ?

And no mnottertail

Lords Select Committees be there 6, and no more, and they will not run against/concuntery via the hovel of parliament - nor can they force a prime minister out, even one who is beserk.

There are currently six major Lords Select Committees:

the European Union Committee guffaws
the Science and Technology Committee
the Communications Committee
the Constitution Committee
the Economic Affairs Committee
the International Relations Committee

Dont look at me I studied science and malarkey
