LOL... not that Trump isn't a shitbag, but agreeing to use chemical weapons attacks to manipulate public opinion in the US???
Is this really something Trump is capable of?

In a word . . . yes. In two words . . . definitely yes. In three words . . . without a doubt.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell tonight opened his show positing that “if Vladimir Putin masterminded the last week in Syria, he has gotten everything he could have asked for.”

He argued that it’s conceivable that Putin could have told Bashar al-Assad to carry out a small chemical attack “just big enough to attract media attention so that my friend in the White House will see it on TV” and then Trump can fire missiles that will “do no real damage” to ensure that the U.S. media will “change the subject from Russian influence” on the White House.

Lawrence O'Donnell has a future in comedy.

Im sorry, have you read any of my posts? grins

well Alex Jones has done it,
https://www.infowars.com/false-flag-attack-started-syriaus-conflict-alex-jones-reports/

Im prefer facts, but conspiracies happen. NO, personally, if it was at all possible(hypothetically) I dont think he personally would agree to the use of sarin on people. I hate him but not in that respect.
Hypothetically I would think that if it was "known" by him, he didnt know the target and would be a major reason why he retaliated.
Hypothetical part over

I do think his refugee bullshit is bullshit and with this attack and his use of the "children of god" is at odds.
There are so many questions and its such a deep subject.
The more I read(both sides) the more I see, and it aint pretty.
What comes in the next week or so is keeping me addicted to the news.
My boss hates me

A politico article about trumps base being angry at his decision so far....

The fractured elements of what was once called the alt-right were unified once more on Thursday night in condemning Donald Trump’s airstrike in Syria as a mistake. Or as Milo Yiannopoulos put it, “FAKE and GAY.”

This loose confederation of Web-savvy, anti-establishment right-wingers formed an important vanguard of Trump’s online support in last year’s election, and its unified opposition to the airstrike forewarns a political downside to intervention in Syria. While foreign wars tend to boost presidents’ popularity in the short term, Trump risks losing the segments of his base that flocked to his isolationist, “America First” message.

In addition to its nationalist, anti-interventionist and anti-“globalist” views, the alt-right and its fellow travelers have also displayed a marked affinity for Syria’s ally Russia, whose government has returned the love by tweeting images of the alt-right's mascot, Pepe the Frog, from official accounts. In reacting to the airstrikes, leaders of the movement placed those ideological reflexes over their personal loyalty to Trump.

Most noteworthy were the herculean efforts of blogger Mike Cernovich, who took to the livestreaming application Periscope to rally opposition to the strike in a marathon session that went on for several hours.

Just days after Donald Trump Jr. suggested he be given a Pulitzer Prize, Cernovich tweeted, “Sources telling me U.S. attack in Syria planned for tonight, we must stop! #NoMoreWar,” at 7:40 pm Eastern time, an hour and a half before NBC News broke the news of the airstrike.

Another opinion from the Guardian...
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/apr/06/donald-trumps-senseless-syria-strikes-accomplish-nothing?CMP=fb_gu

The US bombing of a Syrian airfield is flip-floppery at its worst. And it signals to America’s foes that Trump can be easily dragged into military quagmires
Donald Trump, the man who just over a month ago wanted to bar entry of all Syrian refugees into the United States, now wants us to think that he cares deeply about Syrian children. I don’t believe it.

Donald Trump, the man who just over a month ago wanted to bar entry of all Syrian refugees into the United States, now wants us to think that he cares deeply about Syrian children. I don’t believe it.

What I do believe is that our president is a bad actor. He was a bad actor on his old television show, and he’s still a bad actor today. And he’s a bad actor in both senses of the term, which is to say his actions are poorly executed and morally questionable.

Addressing the nation from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, the president announced that he had authorized “a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched”. Trump was referring to a chemical weapons attack on Tuesday that killed more than 80 people, including dozens of women and children, in the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhun. The chemical attack had in all likelihood been carried out by the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

But what will the US’s military strike – a barrage of at least 59 (offensively named) Tomahawk cruise missiles aimed at a lone airfield – really accomplish?

Why are Lib articles so clueless about Trump motivations?

Which part of Trump does not want US to be responsible for housing and homing these kids as a result of damn Muslims and their never ending war with each other do they not understand? It feels like their religion keeps creating one big mess over there. And US and other countries gotta bare the expense of the damage their religion brought upon their own region.

Yet if these Muslims internal war among themselves are escalating to chemical warfare. It is getting out of hand that is forcing him to interfere.

The thing about that is that Trump is such an ignorant fuck that I doubt he had any real sense of the true implications of the refugee ban. Just like his RWNJ supporters (see BoscoX's posts), he sees them as part of an abstraction-- a single, mindless 'other' that uniformly hates America, believes in its own right to dominate the world and is probably responsible for the situation in its own country.

If you want to ask me if I think Trump is so colossally stupid that only now has he bothered to actually look at the situation (even if only via a handful of pictures), the answer is yes.

On the other hand, I really can't see him flip flopping on the ban... so who even knows?

I dunno , I just quoted the piece.

You could look at the history of gas attacks in syria, and how its been handled in the past(say 2013 for a start)
Now I know you think that the sun shines out of trumps ass, but seriously do some googling

I dont see him flip flopping on the ban that would be too much embarrassment for him.
Plus now that Gorsuch is in, that can be dealth with in the SCOTUS asap.
Same with his other problems being held up.
This is the one thats not going to go away.
While Id love to see Assad/Putin suffer, I dont want to see ground troops of the US or their allies dying for his ego.
Or at all.

itsSIRtou -> RE: U.S. Attacks Syria (4/8/2017 1:21:25 AM)

Im thinking this is just another deflection tactic for the Russian election coverup, wasn't that long ago he said Obama was going to bomb Assad cuz rump thought the former pres. was desparate.

...now rump is the one really desperate to get people to talk about anything other than his failures. Im also not convinced that the Russians responses are that genuine..... Russian feelings aint that hurt.

I don't see Russia asking anybody for sanctions against the USA like we have against them for their actions do u?

seriously, did any sassad's soldiers die in the attack??
how old were the planes??
did it really make a dent in assad's capabilities?? Really??

and I'd ask.... does anyone in rumps family own stock in the company that makes the 59 missiles that got fired??
Was there 59 missiles worth of actual damage?

heavyblinker -> RE: U.S. Attacks Syria (4/8/2017 1:31:57 AM)

The election scandal isn't going away... this is a diversion, sure... and it might even make Trump look like he isn't Putin's bitch (maybe co-conspirator is a better word), but it's not like the FBI is going to drop it.

On the other hand, it's definitely a good way for Trump to get the neocons on his side.
And this right after he booted Bannon from the NSC.

Hmmmm...

DesideriScuri -> RE: U.S. Attacks Syria (4/10/2017 8:15:26 PM)

quote:

ORIGINAL: Lucylastic
It is not clear what ― if any ― legal authority Trump is claiming to strike the Assad regime. The U.S. has claimed authority to bomb ISIS in Syria under the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force by claiming that ISIS is an offshoot of al Qaeda. But there is no war authorization from Congress that could be interpreted to allow military action against the Syrian government, nor can the U.S. claim it is defending itself. When former President Barack Obama considered a similar retaliatory strike against the Assad regime in 2013, he made it clear he would first seek approval from Congress.

I don't think Trump had any authority to launch the strikes. Period. And, even if former President Obama had gone to Congress to request approval, that still wouldn't have actually given him any authority to launch an attack.

Unless (or until) a declaration of war is in place against Assad's government, we have no authority to act against the Syrian government. Some will argue (and I admit to be wishy washy about it) that we only have the authority to attack ISIS, or to support the groups that are attacking ISIS. Didn't ISIS and al Qaeda sever ties, and actually be opposed to each other? Wasn't it argued that ISIS wasn't really an offshoot of al Qaeda?

quote:

“Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed dramatically,” Trump said Thursday. “As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies.” The president did not indicate whether he would adjust his stance on banning Syrian refugees

How does this directly threaten the US? I disagree wholeheartedly with the President on this. We have no authority to act unless there is a direct threat on the US, an actual attack on the US, an actual attack against US Citizens, or an actual attack on a NATO country.
