Actually, after re watching the episode, there were two points that were glaringly obvious. 1) She had not met the doctor in his present form And 2) She was pulling the "if I deny that he cares etc it wont hurt" plot line. She clearly knew the doctor, having pictures of every one of his previous forms, and knew how to operate the TARDIS. And contrary to the argument that River is living backward in the time stream, it is more that, since both are time travelers, they are always traveling through the time stream at different rates and intersecting each other's movements at different points, hence the "synchronizing of diaries" in various episodes, to avoid setting up paradoxes (which if it is not a fixed point in time, why would it matter?) The doctor routinely makes remarks about crossing his own time stream in various episodes, which again seems a bit of a stretch, since by the very nature of time travel he would be crossing his own time stream each time he activated the TARDIS controls, or more accurately he would be moving forward and backwards along one time line. However, look at current theories concerning space time, each time the Doctor affects some incident, i.e stopping the cybermen from taking over earth, he has effectively created an alternate time line in an alternate universe which runs parallel to the his original time line. So, by simple math, since the first episode, the Doctor has effectively created 830 individual alternate time lines in alternate space time continuums. Then adding in River Song's various exploits, the total number of alternate space time realities becomes almost infinite. You see, with only three exceptions that I can remember, the Doctor Who series has always implied there is but one time line, which is not the case. According to current theory, each time we as individuals make a choice, we are effectively creating an infinite number of time lines in which an infinite number of ourselves are making an individual choice which changes the course of time, thus creating a new time line. Thus, the BBC needs to hire Stephen Hawking (who is rumored to enjoy the show) as a technical advisor in which case, god help all of us trying to figure out just what the hell is going on.
