ORIGINAL: WickedsDesire why not give him immunity? he can still plead the 5th in a criminal prosecution? He wouldnt have to, you see, if they give him immunity, he cant be prosecuted. Goes back to Iran-Contra, when Reagan had Ollie North sell weapons and spare parts to Iran so they could give the Contras in Nicaragua money that Congress stopped giving them because some of the Contra leaders were dealing cocaine to help cover the costs of fighting the communist government in Nicaragua. You know, like the Afghan freedom fighters we were supporting against the Soviets who also happened to be selling opium to people who turned it into heroin to sell in Europe and the US? Anyway, Congress gave Ollie immunity, and when the special prosecutor tried him for crimes that he basically confessed to at the hearings, the US supreme court threw out the conviction because it was based on testimony he gave in a congressional hearing AFTER he was given immunity. Now the kicker is that the Contras that were selling the cocaine were selling to 'approved' buyers (approved by the CIA) who were not smuggling the coke into the states but into Europe (and eventually into the US, but that is beside the point.) And it is also beside the point that the weapons and spare parts that Ollie arranged to be sold to Iran to use in their war against Iraq was technically treason (at the time Iran was considered and enemy of the US due to the whole Hostage crisis thing during the Carter administration) and of course, at that time we were friends with Saddam Hussein because he was at war with Iran, so we were giving Iraq all kinds of neat stuff, including chemical weapons technology that we were not supposed to have anymore since Nixon has signed a treaty with the Soviet Union stating we would stop making the stuff (even though they were still experimenting with chemical and biological weapons in defiance of the treaty) in an effort to take such weapons off the battle field. And then to confuse the matter even further, there is the fact that during the Benghazi/email server/everything else hearings during the Obama administration, GOP and Dems gave Obama and Hillary staffers immunity so they would testify which caused Trump and ultra conservative lunatics on this board to go bat shit crazy, claiming innocent people do not need immunity. Which brings us to the whole Trump/Russian/Election stuff and the fact that absolutely nobody from either party wants to grant immunity to anyone simply because if they do and something does turn out to have happened that was either illegal or unethical they have no one to hang in front of the Capital and blame instead of the President which would force someone to actually introduce a motion to impeach Donald Trump in the house and open a whole new can of worms. In other words, they wont give Flynn immunity because if they can hang anyone but the president for the mess they cant give them immunity. Which would make sense if President Trump would stop saying shit that makes him look guilty as fuck even if he is not guilty of anything more than being a dumb fuck with a fucking mouth the size of the grand canyon that he continues to shove his foot in up to his ass. I means seriously, every time his staffers make a valid point that could very well keep him in the clear, he opens his mouth or posts a ton of stuff on twitter that basically cuts their legs out from under them and makes them look like they are lieing through their collective teeth. His staff are competent enough to make statements that make sense AND cover his ass, then he goes and says some dumb shit that makes them look like complete idiots. I am surprised that they have not quit en mass citing the fact they are working for a big mouthed idiot who cant keep his mouth from over loading his brain. quote:
Rick Wilson, a longtime Republican consultant and a Trump critic, urged the President’s aides to quit. “G.O.P. friends, I’m here to help you,” he wrote, in the Washington Post. “You don’t want to break from the pack too soon, but there’s greater risk in waiting too long,” when history will judge you “like a Baath Party generalissimo.” quote:
Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster, the national-security adviser, was among those sent out on Monday to deny that Trump had shared secrets with Russia. John Weaver, a Republican strategist, tweeted, “General McMaster spent decades defending this nation, earning his integrity and honor. Trump squandered it in less than twelve hours.” quote:
Trump is making their decisions easier, by humiliating them. “In terms of achievement, I think I’d give myself an A,” the President said on Fox News. He was less generous to his communications staff, giving them a “C or a C-plus.” Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, has borne the brunt of that criticism. Last Thursday, White House reporters noted that Spicer was stepping back from his role in the daily briefing. source
