I just reeled in a 57 lb striper here in Narragansett Bay! Brought fresh lump crab meat on board this hitch and now for supper tonight it's going to be stuffed rockfish with a garlic white sauce/two cheese topping. Life is good and when I'm done baking this bad boy with some hush puppies, Lima beans cooked with pork fat back to flavor and Jasmine rice it's gonna be grand! So glad I paid attention when my mama cooked!

And here all this time I've been trying to find a way to get hospitalized so I could meet up with a Candy Stripper.

57 pound striped bass? What size line did you use?or was it an umbrella jig on the back of the boat?

It was a Calcutta gilled shad artificial cast on a Daiwa bait cast reel, 20lb test mono with a 20 lb test florocarbon leader mounted on a 6'6" Ugly Stick. It took a minute or two of coaxing him into a net but it was a really fun fight.

That`s a big Striper...had to have been fun reeling it in...

The record here, freshwater...is 64 lbs.

Good catch...a memory for sure.
